Poldark, BBC
Period dramas come from Jane Austen and little else in this day and age, so it’s refreshing to see one that isn’t – and one that centers on a romance, as well. Plus – strong female characters, pretty costumes, and a very long book series that promises to have a lot to adapt!
American Gods, Starz
Neil Gaiman is one of those authors, and this is one of those books – the ones we never thought would really be adapted, the ones that came with such a weight of expectation watching the first episode was scary. And then – American Gods delivered.
Boy, did it deliver. If you’re looking for mythology and fantasy, this is the show for you. If you’re looking for gritty, real, and heartwarming, this is the show for you too.
13 Reasons Why, Netflix
Controversial and poignant, the show deals with an issue that is very much taboo still in this day and age, teenage suicide, and though it has its detractors, most people will agree that these are conversations we need to be having. If you check out the show, you can then be part of this very important movement.
