Ozark is a dark and dangerous series which showcases one family’s struggles after moving to an Ozarks resort community to get away from their past.

The gritty drama focuses on an ordinary family man, who is involved in the world of dirty money as being in charge of a money laundering scheme for a Mexican drug cartel. When things happen, the family is suddenly forced to shift gears as they flee from their comfy Chicago life to the Ozarks.

Our favorite Defenders are back and this series has a nuanced approach, which could prove to be well-suited despite a lot of hesitations.

Not only is it a shortened series, it takes place with a real-time feeling with the eight episodes expanding over only just a few days, but we get right down to the nitty-gritty since we don’t need the backstories of the characters. Each show and each character have their own tone, so we are waiting patiently to see how they combine this into one fantastic show.

21. The Last Ship (TNT, August 20 9/8c)

Season 4 of The Last Ship will hopefully return with answers after that riveting third season finale. The crew of the Nathan James has discovered that the virus is now “jumping” and is now infecting the world’s food crops, which could devastate humanity with global famine.

Meanwhile Tom Chandler set out to find solace with his family in a small village in Greece, will he be able to stay away from his sense of duty and responsibilities?

Hillary is television fanatic and spends most of her free time talking about all things television and pop culture, even if it’s just with baby padawan (her son) and her wife. Her current day job is working within the nonprofit sector, and she is pretty much in love with any show that has strong female characters. Never one to be boxed into any sort of genre, her show preferences range from Wynonna Earp and Dark Matter to One Day At a Time and Modern Family.
