Jane The Virgin Review: Chapter Sixty-Two (Season 3 Episode 18)
You know how that famous song goes… girls just wanna have fun. That’s exactly what it looks like for Jane on Jane The Virgin Season 3 Episode 18, “Chapter Sixty-Two.”
Jane is trying to do something that she’s never done before and it’s to have a casual, no strings attached fling with Fabian for once in her life. Because, you know, this is all new to her and it’s definitely something that is different for her character.

I wish that it was someone other than Fabian though. I tried to see him as a likeable person, but he is so basic and everything that he says is just…boring.
As much as this time jump continues to go forth with the multiple storylines that are being played out episode by episode, I am however witnessing a depth of character growth on Jane’s part. I love it.
She’s embracing everything, it’s been baby steps so far but now I feel as if she’s taken a huge leap. I am proud of her.
There are no limitations with this new Jane. It’s all about being carefree and moving forward.
Jane’s growth and everything that centers around it is all that really matters. In the end, we all just want her to be happy.
“Chapter Sixty-Two,” does quite an interesting job at executing the story of the ‘bird and the bees talk’ that starts off with Jane and curious cutie of a son, Mateo.
Though, I think this subject is a little too early for them to visit with Mateo given he is only 5 years old, that part actually shocks me. Then we learn Mateo is going around giving “special” hugs to girls in his class in order to make a baby. I laughed, I laughed a lot at that part.
Jane’s parenting is so pure and the way that she explains this all to Mateo doesn’t turn out to be as awkward as I imagined it would be.
But what has to be one of my favorite parts of this episode is when Jane and Rafael decide to revise this talk with Mateo with a hint of truth and a hint of a lie in Jane’s room following up to helping Mateo fall asleep.
I absolutely love, love, love how flourished Jane and Rafael’s co-parenting relationship has become in this jump. Especially on this episode. They are so supportive and so honest with each other, it’s like they are literal best friends.
I think a part of me has always been Team Rafael, but seeing how they are so great at being friends instead in this time jump, I’m totally okay with that.
It’s like they have this mutual understanding that works so well for the both of them. It’s been quite a few episodes into the time jump and I think most people would have thought by now, they would somehow find their way back to each other as lovers. But that’s so not the case now.
Rafael has his eyes and heart set on his ex-wife, Petra, and I’m kind of all here for it.

Petra has been one of my favorites this season. She’s changed from the recent seasons and she has made herself more likeable and friendlier in general. I’m excited to see where the writers will go with this idea of potentially bringing Rafael and Petra back together again.
Oh and this whole “Who killed Scott?” storyline is getting rather redundant for me. Now Chuck is innocent in all of this… cool. Are we going to have another prime suspect in all of this again?
And this time, is it a woman? Let’s move on to something more intriguing, shall we! No more murder mystery!
Other thoughts:
- I’m glad the whole fling between Jane and Fabian has ended. Sorry, Fabian but we’re just not that into you.
- I knew Chuck wasn’t the bad guy they were looking for. He just wanted a getaway to tell Petra that he loves her (aww). But like, I think she has feelings for Rafael too. This is going to be fun!
- Mateo’s reactions on this show are the best. He’s such a comical kid, even when he doesn’t try to be.
- If Xo and Rogelio are getting married, please let it be legit this time! For Jane’s sake at least!
