15 TV Shows That Continued Without Their Leads
7. Two And A Half Men

In 2011, Charlie Sheen famously left Two And A Half Men and took to the talk-show circuit to tell everyone he was “winning.” He was replaced by Ashton Kutcher, who played a billionaire who buys Charlie’s house after his death. The series continued to run until 2015 and even managed to be the fourth-highest revenue-generating program for 2012.
8. That 70s Show

That 70s Show lost not one, but two of its leads at once. Both Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace left the show after season seven. Kutcher appeared as a special guest star in the first few episodes of the final season, but both actors did return for the series finale.
9. 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter

When John Ritter passed away in 2003, the show dealt with his death in the most realistic way possible. Rather than replace him, the series continued without him, incorporating the death of his character Paul Hennessy into the show.
James Garner and David Spade joined the cast afterward, but the ratings took a hit. 8 Simple Rules was canceled in 2005 after three seasons.
10. Charmed

Charmed gave Shannen Doherty the opportunity to quit a starring role on an Aaron Spelling drama for the second time.
As the oldest and the leader of the three Halliwell sisters, Doherty’s character left the show without the “Power of Three” when she left after season three. Rose McGowan joined the cast as Paige Matthews, a half-sister, allowing the show to continue for five more years.
11. CSI

William Petersen starred as Gil Grissom in CSI for nine seasons before leaving to pursue more stage acting opportunities. He continued to make guest appearances and returned for the show’s finale — a full-length feature that aired after Season 15. Laurence Fishburne and later, Ted Danson, joined the cast to help fill the void left by Petersen.
12. Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy has had a lot of cast turnover throughout the years. Although series star Ellen Pompeo has maintained her commitment to the show, stars like Katherine Heigl, Isaiah Washington, Kate Walsh, Eric Dane, Sandra Oh, T.R Knight, and Patrick Dempsey have all left the show.
However, an influx of new characters has helped keep Grey‘s going for 13 seasons.
