Dancing with the Stars Recap: Vegas Night (Season 24 Episode 3)
This week, Dancing with the Stars Season 24 Episode 3 does Vegas Night.
The show kicks off with a group dance that takes place all over the stage and balcony. The contestants and pros show off some Vegas staples like a giant slot machine and a game of poker all while dancing around the ballroom.
See below for how the stars fared during Vegas Night.
Nick and Peta: The Bachelor star is back this week hoping to improve and prove himself to the audience with a tango to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.” The judges praise his improvement from last week, but it won’t be enough to push him out of the middle of the leaderboard. As much as Nick tries, he can’t seem to get past being a mediocre dancer.
Score: 26/40
Mr. T & Kym: Mr. T comes into Vegas Night with a Foxtrot to Dean Martin’s “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head.” The judges call his dance “classy” and “charming.”
The Foxtrot made Mr. T seem more comfortable dancing, but I think he’s not a good enough dancer and will be sent home soon. Though honestly, Mr. T is one of the most enjoyable bad dancers to watch this season.
Score: 24/40
Bonner & Sharna: Bonner performs a Charleston to “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” that is bland. Carrie Ann even says he “did not do it well” but they appreciate his effort. Bonner’s low energy Charleston seems like he’s not trying very hard, and it is shown in his low score.
Score: 24/40
Derek and Julianne Move Tour: The show takes a break from contestants to have the Houghs perform a piece from their tour. Though they are professionals, it really shows how far some of the contestants need to come if they want to remain competitive. I love to see previous pros come back on the show!
Heather & Alan (Maksim): This is another week where Heather has to dance with Alan because of Maks’ injury. Heather performs a tango to “Toxic” by Britney Spears.
Heather, finally, gets rave reviews from the judges that she should earn with her dance experience. Len praises the “tango content” and Bruno raves about her hitting the musical cues by demonstrating in true Bruno fashion. Maks gives an update on his injury and thinks he could be back at the end of the week. Heather earns the first 9 of the season.
Score: 33/40
Charo & Keo: Keo manages to keep Charo under control during their Foxtrot to “Chapel of Love” by The Dixie Cups. The dance is described as “sweet” and “lovely” by the judges. They cannot stop praising Keo for the routine and keeping Charo reigned in.
Poor Keo! He gets paired with partners who won’t go far most years! Charo didn’t yell at the judges this week, and it made her much more bearable!
Score: 24/40
Simone & Sasha: Simone plays up her young age by not knowing much about Elvis. She and Sasha dance a “Viva Las Vegas” Quickstep. The Quickstep was fun and precise, but as always, Carrie Ann is a stickler for no lifts! The judges enjoyed it, and Simone even earned a 9 from Julianne.
Score: 32/40
Nancy & Artem: Nancy performs samba to Ricky Martin’s “Shake your Bon-Bon” with advice from Ricky. The dance is energetic and you can tell Nancy was having fun. They are praised for doing a “proper samba” and Len calls it “the best dance he has seen all season.” Even after Julianne’s praise of “best samba in years” she only gave it an 8.
Score: 33/40
David & Lindsay: 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” is the song that David gets to perform his sexy jazz routine to. The Magic Mike inspired dance might have been more silly than sexy, but David nailed it. The judges gave him props for going all in on the dance and doing a great job while being tongue in cheek. Even if Lindsay seemed to not do much dancing with David the dance worked.
Score: 31/40
Erika & Gleb: A jive to “Take Me to Heaven” is Erika’s performance in Vegas week. She struggles a bit with some timing and Carrie Ann docks points for the lift. The jive is tough and Erika was not able to impress with hers.
Score: 26/40
Rashad & Emma: After being on top of the leaderboard last week, Rashad has high expectations coming into this week. He didn’t have his best dance with the samba to “Swalla” by Jason Derulo. The judges think he can improve and gave him comments on his technique. Rashad should have no problem going far in the competition but the song choice held him back this week.
Score: 28/40
Normani & Val: Normani performs her Foxtrot to “Big Spender” with a large poker table prop. Bruno calls it the best dance of the night and Carrie Ann complains about the lift onto the table. They earn the highest score of the night. Normani’s whole package is about her schedule, so hopefully next week we can learn something about her other than she’s on tour.
Score: 34/40
Results: The two couples in jeopardy are Charo and Keo and Nick and Peta.
Charo and Keo are sent home. Charo says she’s had a great time… before running off.
