Supernatural: 9 Best Moments from “Family Feud” (Season 12 Episode 13)

Reviews, Supernatural

Is there anything more important than family?

On Supernatural Season 12 Episode 13, family dynamics are tested all around, from the Winchesters and Mary to Crowley and Rowena – heck, even Lucifer and his baby-boy-on-the-way play a role in the action!

“Family Feud” sees the return of Crowley’s son, Gavin, a new player with an interest in protecting Hell’s newest son, and the confession we’ve all been waiting for from Mary Winchester.

Here are some of the most memorable moments from “Family Feud!”

9. Gavin Returns!

You all totally remembered that Crowley has a son, right? I mean, it’s only been like, 3 seasons since we’ve thought about him. It’s cool. His return is not only a great jogger for the memory, but it makes me think that if the writers are still going down a long checklist of loose ends, there may be hope for seeing an Adam return yet.

8. Lucifer’s Return Explained

So, here are the cliffnotes: Crowley double-crossed everyone during Lucifer’s big exorcism and had his men working behind the scenes to improve Lucifer’s old (and best) vessel. I’ll go along with any excuse – even if it doesn’t totally make sense – if it means having Mark Pellegrino back.

7. Mr. Ketch Wants Mary to “Disengage”

Mr. Ketch telling Mary that she’s at her best when she’s hunting, and that her boys make her soft, is an absolute highlight. It’s so hard to read Mary – does she believe Mr. Ketch? Does she concur? It seems impossible that Mary would ever truly separate herself from her boys, but then again, I never thought she’d abandon them to begin with for a solo hunting career.

6. Kelly’s Got a New Best Friend

We learned on Supernatural Season 12 Episode 12 that Ramiel’s sister, Dagon, has taken an interest in Lucifer’s spawn. The payoff of that tidbit comes quickly as Dagon saves Kelly from death and then offers to protect her. Based on the way that Lucifer smiled and whispered, “Dagon,” in the final moments of the episode, it seems to me like he’s totally happy about this new arrangement.

5. Lucifer Wants Fatherly Wisdom from Crowley

Lucifer and Crowley are both dads – almost. It’s a short moment, but one that made me laugh and gives me a glimpse of future conversations between the two hellish frenemies. And based on Gavin’s fate, Lucifer’s future prodding could potentially bring out a big bad side of Crowley.

4. Mary’s Got a Bad-Ass Weapon

Come on! How have we never seen one of those cool brain-melting guns? Imagine Dean with one of those! Mary needs to bring one of those babies home to her boys.

3. Gavin Sets Things Right

Gavin’s decision to return to his original timeline in order to stop his love, Fiona, from dying and becoming a vengeful spirit is just plain sweet. You can see the fear in his eyes as Sam and Dean send him back – he knows he’s just going back in time to die. But it’s the right thing to do – even if it means breaking Crowley’s heart.

2. Rowena and Crowley’s Heart to Heart

There’s definitely some tension mounting between the King of Hell and his mommy. While Rowena has been reforming herself, many questions have been raised about her loyalty and her motives. When she explains why she’s happy to see her grandson go back in time, she shows some of her true colors – she’s still angry that Crowley made her kill the only person she’s ever truly loved – Oscar.

1. Mary’s Confession

It’s a relief that this is all out in the open. Sam and Dean aren’t happy, but can you blame them? My only wish is that we had been privy to their entire conversation – the explanations, the questions, all of the ugliness that was undoubtedly discussed in the Winchester fortress.
