Suits Review: Admission of Guilt (Season 6 Episode 14)
We’ve been here before, you guys.
Somehow, everything from the class action lawsuit going south on Suits Season 6 Episode 14 to the fact that Mike continues to make decisions that make me want to bang my head against a wall feels all too familiar.
It’s not that this storyline has been done, exactly. It hasn’t. But the premise of it feels circular.
Mike always wants to do the right thing but makes some sort of rash decision that could make things worse. Harvey walks a line between what is legal and what isn’t, but at the end of the day is able to get one over on the bad guy.

Meanwhile, we’re rooting for our duo to pull off some elaborate plan that could get them both in big trouble if they aren’t careful.
Sending Mike to prison in the first place was a way to change the formula of this show, and it’s something I enjoyed. Now that he’s out, but not yet back at P.S.L., it already feels like we’re falling into an old pattern.
And Mike continues to make me crazy with his decisions. His reasoning is always about doing the right thing or making the only decision he could, but he often lacks the maturity he ought to have by now.
Maybe telling Palmer that he had the support of Pearson Specter Litt is the only move he has in that moment, but it is, as usual, exactly the opposite of the advice he was given.
That doesn’t mean it won’t work out. In fact, I’m betting this case and the opportunity to work with the lawyers at P.S.L. is going to be a good thing for Oliver, who calls Mike out in the best possible way.
Meanwhile, Rachel is rightfully concerned about her fiancé. She and Mike have never really been able to feel secure — there was also a reason to be worried about him. Now, they could, but she’s worried about Harvey’s plan to get Mike into the Bar, and she tells him that.
Harvey’s respect for Rachel, and the fact that deep down, he knows she’s right, gives this whole thing higher stakes.
Speaking of Rachel, she has a small moment in this episode with Katrina that’s actually incredibly significant. Katrina tells Rachel how proud her father is of her.
Katrina: When he offered you that job he was beaming. He told everyone that his brilliant baby girl was coming to work for us, and she going to blow us all to smithereens.
Rachel: He said that?
Katrina: Rachel i didn’t tell you that to make you feel bad. He was okay that you didn’t take his offer.
Rachel: It doesn’t make me feel bad. It makes me feel great.
Rachel and Katrina work together to create a breathtakingly perfect presentation for a high-end client. Their presence is a replacement for Harvey, who is supposed to be there with Louis for the client’s arrival.
With Jessica gone, their job is convince the client that they are still the right firm for her.

Thought Rachel and Katrina’s presentation seems successful, it isn’t good enough. Once again, Harvey choosing Mike over the needs of his firm has serious consequences.
Louis would like to see Mike return to the firm and be there as an actual lawyer almost as much as Harvey, I think — despite the fact that Mike insists he doesn’t have those intentions.
As for Donna, the continued focus remains on The Donna, which is fun it its way, but seems… trivial. On the one hand, it makes perfect sense that someone would want to create a device using Donna’s voice and witticisms — it’s almost meta in that way.
On the other hand, Donna’s character could be doing so much more than this.
The saving grace of it is her compassionate advice to Benjamin, which I’m not convinced isn’t a result of him tricking her in order to program that kind of response into the device.
Other Thoughts:
- I still don’t trust Tara, but I’m starting to. Watching her with Louis as they go through yearbooks is really endearing.
- Donna gives more good advice / words of wisdom when it comes to Louis, reminding him that he’s not only a good lawyer, but he’s also now co-managing partner.
- I never tire of the theme song to this show. I’m glad that, unlike so many other shows, they still play it at the beginning of every episode.
