Growing Up McGhee Recap: A Natural Born Band (Season 2 Episode 5)

Growing Up McGhee, Recaps

On Growing Up McGhee Season 2 Episode 5, “A Natural Born Band,” Mia and Ro decide that it’s time the kids get music lessons.

The episode starts off with the kids on stage at the local church, letting loose and doing what they love with instruments. Ro takes this opportunity to have the children play a song that Olivia wrote.

Olivia has a pretty great voice for only being six years old. This is when Mia and Ro decide that it’s time the kids get professional lessons to see who wants to be involved with music and who is just doing it to fit in with the crowd.

It’s obvious that the kids all have some form of love when it comes to music, and to be able to harness that gift will be something that they cherish for the rest of their lives.

Oliva, understandably, is nervous at first, but soon loosens up with the instructor and is belting as high as she can go. Meanwhile, Isaac is in the other room learning how to play the drums the correct way.

When the teacher begins writing sheet music on the board, Isaac is a little lost, but he pays attention and gets the hang of it. Learning sheet music to drum properly is a good sign that this is something he cares about. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be putting in so much work to understand.

On top of Olivia and Isaac finding their calling, the instructors inform Mia and Ro that all the kids can match pitch perfectly. That means that they are all wonderfully gifted!

Watching the children find something that they’re good at and can mold into something that they can carry for the rest of their lives is always an enjoyment.

Learning talents when you’re growing up is important in understanding who you are yourself. Another important thing is starting a social life, and Mia and Ro know that.

Some people may not think that six-year-olds hanging out with friends is crucial, but it is. It gets kids to open up to people and to get out of their comfort zone, which is why Mia and Ro decide that it’s time for a play date for the boys and girls.

The girls invite their friends over for a tea party where Mia teaches them proper etiquette and how to act like a lady. But, only after a long talk about who will wear what dress, of course. What dress you wear to a tea party is important. Always have to look your best.

Meanwhile, Ro drops the boys off at a friend’s house where they go on a long treasure hunt within the house to find the prize. The kids put their teamwork skills to the test to figure out each clue throughout the night.

The boys end up finding the prize, which is a bunch of sugar cookies for them to decorate. Because the McGhee boys don’t ever do a lot of decorating, they go a little heavy with the toppings and glitter — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, you can never have too much glitter!

The playdates go so well that by the end of the night the McGhee kids are already looking forward to the day that they get to have a sleepover. But, for now, play dates are enough.

Growing Up McGhee is a show that you look forward to every week because it’s nothing but wholesome, family fun. Watching the children learn new things and, well, act like children is something that can put a smile on anyone’s face.
