5 TV Shows You Should Watch If You Like Syfy’s ‘Incorporated’

Lists, Mr. Robot

With Incorporated running on Syfy Channel, we’ve decided to share what’s out there in the same style.

Incorporated shows a high-tech world with a dichotomy of the privileged versus those who have nothing.

The premise of Incorporated is a world in decline, where areas not fit to live in because of pollution and war are inhabited by the poor.

Privileged, sheltered areas with green lawns and cutting edge technology under the umbrella of an all-encompassing company are inhabited by those working for the company.

The protagonists, Ben (Sean Teale) and Theo (Eddie Ramos) come from the wrong side of the fence.

They literally have to fight their way into the company to find and rescue Elena (Denyse Tontz), Theo’s sister who disappeared when they were younger.

Ben works his way up the rungs of Spiga, the all-encompassing company, while Theo makes a career in pit-fights.

The story changes perspective from the present to the past as you catch glimpses of how everything got to where it is now, in 2074.

Here are a few other TV shows you should watch if you like Incorporated.

1. The Expanse

The Expanse on SyFy is set approximately 150 years further into the future. Interplanetary space travel is common, and a rebel alliance The Outer Planets Alliance (OPA) is fighting to get accepted by the U.N.

The rebels fight against the bad conditions they face in the asteroid belt. They want to be treated with the same respect as those who come from earth, it’s a fight for equality.

The United Nations is all-encompassing company and the protagonist is Josphus Miller, a detective from Ceres.

Miller is on a missing case, in search of Julie, a runaway girl who is lost in space.

The Expanse Season 2 premieres on Syfy on February 1, 2017.

2. Travelers

Travelers, which first aired in Canada on Showcase in 2016, is now out on Netflix worldwide.

On Travelers, we are under control of an all-encompassing company run by The Director, who is able to transfer consciousness across time.

Basically, by using vessels of people who have died, The Director can channel consciousness back in time.

These deaths have been logged and these logs are used to intervene and transfer the mind of the Traveler to the host body.

The plot of Travelers is to stop the destruction of the world by changing the line of events of the past.

We’re following ordinary people who have their own skill-sets from the future who are trying to fit into the 21st Century world. Not much is revealed about the future, which is a good thing in my opinion.

One of the protocols the Travelers must follow is:

in the absence of direction, maintain the host’s life.

Even if a Traveler knows that someone close to the host will die, he or she should not interfere. This might be a hard task as another protocol says:

don’t take a life, don’t save a life, unless otherwise directed, Do not interfere.

We follow team leader Grant Maclaren (Eric McCormack), traveler #3468  of the FBI in a setting with a dash of Canadian Science Fiction which earlier has given us Continuum and Orphan Black.

Travelers is currently awaiting renewal over at Showcase and on Netflix.

3. Mr. Robot

In Mr. Robot on SyFy, we follow a hacking group called fSociety who is confronting the all-encompassing company of E-corp.

The basis of the show is inside the mind of Elliot Andersson (Rami Malek) who is quite unwell. This is presented to us as the series progress.

In a way, we must take what we’re presented with as the truth. But, is that wise in the world of all encompassing corporations?

Mr. Robot is full of questions, which make it a rare animal in a flood of over-explained and show-it-all TV-series.

Mr. Robot Season 3 is yet to get a premiere date.

4. The Leftovers

The Leftovers, on HBO lets us follow a number of people who have lost someone close to them.

In a paranormal event, people were randomly disappeared in the wink of an eye and the show pictures the different ways of coping with this.

What would you do if the unexplainable happened?

We see Liv Tyler portraying Meg Abbott who is part of a following called The Guilty Remnants.

HBO returns with The Leftovers on April 2017 for Season 3, drenched in tears.

5. 12 Monkeys

12 Monkeys, also on Syfy, is surely akin to Incorporated.

We find time-traveler James Cole (Aaron Stanford) traveling from 2043 to present day to stop a group of people calling themselves The Army of The 12 Monkeys. That is what he thinks, at least.

We have the all-encompassing company, The Markridge Group, a biotechnology company who is fighting against The Army of The 12 Monkeys.

The Army of the 12 Monkeys have built a time machine to make sure things in the future are changed.

Based off of Terry Gilliam’s movie 12 Monkeys from 2005 it follows through and shows us brilliant glimpses of insanity.

Season 3 will air in 2017 on SyFy.
