Grimm: Top Moments from ‘Oh Captain My Captain’ (Season 6 Episode 3)
“You will face yourself again in a moment of terror.”
On Grimm Season 6 Episode 3, “Oh Captain My Captain,” Nick decides that the only way to stop Renard is to be Renard. The witches hat never exactly works as planned, does it?
This episode definitely is one of the lighter ones, which we need because this show does some really dark episodes. They aren’t bad episodes by any means, but you need to break up the darkness.
Here are our top moments from “Oh Captain My Captain.” Which moments made your list?
1. Adalind Stalling Renard
Oh goodness, there are so many amazing things that come out of Adalind trying to keep Renard from figuring out that there’s something going on. Her hiding Monroe in the closet, for one, is hilarious.
Their sort of friendship is one of my favorites, and if you were Monroe, wouldn’t you freak out if the only plan for not being caught involved hiding in a closet? That is like one of the worst places to hide.
The fact that Renard bought Adalind’s really obvious acting is shocking. Watching Adalind try to ramble about a cause that Renard should care about is definitely entertaining.
Now that she’s brought it up, where is Diana going to go to school? She does not quite understand how to behave like a normal child.
What’s even better is that Renard is concerned. He is concerned that he hasn’t been a good parent, and he is concerned that Adalind thinks he doesn’t care about his daughter. Renard takes the time to listen and really try to come up with some sort of plan for Diana’s education.
He may be a pretty bad guy at the moment, but this conversation is a glimpse that the Renard we grew to love in earlier seasons is still in there somewhere.
2. Turning into Renard
Rosalee, Eve, and Monroe reacting to the whole Nick turning into Renard process is fantastic. Between Nick having to strip down in front of everyone to everyone’s critique of Nick’s version of Renard, it is a funny scene.
It’s not enough to look the part, you have to act it as well. You need to walk the Renard walk, and talk the Renard talk! As Monroe says, Nick needs to act more “Renard-y.”
As we see by his yelling a command at Hank, Nick does a good job of playing Renard. It would have been fun to see Nick troll a couple more people, but I guess there were more important things to do.

3. Renard vs. Renard
Let’s get ready to rumbleeee!
It could have just been an actual fight between the two of them, but thankfully, it’s not.
Renard and Nick actually sit (because they just beat the crap out of each other and are tired) and strategize a way out for both of them. It’s a glimpse into the Nick and Renard dynamic that we know and love and miss! Plus, it’s definitely a good thing to make sure you won’t go down for murder.
The two of them were a great team back before Black Claw somehow brainwashed Renard and brought out his evilness. Hopefully this is the beginning of Renard slowly coming back to the good side.
4. Nick, is that You?
The fact that everyone questions Nick when he returns after the Renard fight is such a small moment, but it deserves some applause. It shows that Team Grimm is not stupid.
We, as an audience, probably would not have complained too much if no one doubted that it was Nick when a Renard walked into the spice shop, but it’s nice that everyone’s paranoia kicked in.
They are being hunted by the police because of this Nick and Renard feud. Earlier, Monroe sees a cop shining a flashlight into the shop. This is not the time to not question something, and they didn’t. Good for you, Team Grimm.
5. Adalind and Diana Helping Out
Adalind joining Team Grimm is a recent development, but she has fully been accepted as a member at this point. There’s no longer any weirdness at seeing her at the spice shop or asking her for help. She’s become one of the team, and she is a great addition.
Plus, where Adalind goes, Diana usually goes. Diana is a wildcard. She’s either sweet or terrifying. There’s not really an in between.
No matter how nice she’s feeling, Diana is always entertaining. You never know if she is going to snap and send Nick flying through a door. Did anyone else get the feeling that Diana has finally realized that Nick is not her mother’s friend?
It looks like Nick has made it onto Diana’s hit list.
6. Meisner??
While I still do not understand how he’s back, it’s such an awesome twist. Maybe Meisner is just a manifestation of Renard’s guilt.
Renard does flash back to killing Meisner often, like after he kills someone or witnesses a murder. Could this be a sign that Renard has reached his breaking point?
Whatever the case may be, this is a fun twist. I also have missed seeing Meisner on my TV.
