10 TV Characters Who Really Love Christmas
It’s a magical time of year. Sure, it can be stressful too, but there’s nothing quite like gathering with your friends and family around the holidays.
No one loves that quite as much as these TV characters. Most of them are known for their extravagant plans and overzealous decorating, and the hope everything will be perfect — just this once.
Here are 10 TV characters who just really, really love Christmas.
1. Jessica Day (New Girl)
Is there anyone who loves the holidays more than New Girl’s Jessica Day? She goes out of her way to make Christmas special every single year, even when things go horribly wrong. We could all take a lesson from her enthusiasm.
2. Izzie Stevens (Grey’s Anatomy)
Grey’s Anatomy’s Izzie Stevens always wanted to have the perfect Thanksgiving and the perfect Christmas. Of course, being a surgeon can make your plans change pretty quickly. Her roommates were less interested in having the holiday spirit, but they managed to go along with it anyway.
George: It looks like Santa threw up in here.
Meredith: Just go with it, we’re being supportive here.
Izzie: Did I go overboard? I know sometimes I can go too overboard.
3. Phil Dunphy (Modern Family)
Phil Dunphy gets SO excited about Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and really any holiday you can think of. But the man loves Christmas, and he loves any reason to get his entire family together to celebrate, no matter how often his antics might go awry.
Thankfully, that always makes for a good holiday episode of Modern Family.
4. Seeley Booth (Bones)
Booth thinks of Christmas as a magical time, and even before he and Brennan realized they were in love with each other, he and his son managed a way to make one Christmas particularly magical for Brennan and her family.
That same episode of Bones is also when the two shared their first kiss — under the mistletoe, no less!
5. Lily Aldrin (How I Met Your Mother)
Whatever you do, don’t make Lily angry around Christmas time. She’s known for creating a special, over-the-top “winter wonderland” in the apartment each year — something Marshall always looks forward to.
But she takes all of that away at the drop of a hat when Ted calls her a “grinch” (insert stronger curse word here). Thankfully, Ted convinces her to set everything back up before Marshall returns home.
6. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)
Unsurprisingly, Parks and Recreation’s Leslie Knope really loves Christmas, and she’s always ready to get into the holiday spirit. She especially loves finding the perfect gifts for her friends and co-workers, and she’s not above putting on her best Christmas costume.
7. Randall Pearson (This is Us)
Randall Pearson from the new drama This is Us has a special memory from childhood that translates into his current family traditions, right down to the special cheese-covered hot dogs.
That Christmas tradition not only honors his father, but it brings back memories of a time when the most important part of Christmas was being with family.
8. Seth Cohen (The O.C.)
Seth Cohen doesn’t discriminate. He loves Christmas, he loves Hanukah — he loves it all. And in his family, merging Christmas and Hanukah just means something even better: A very special “super-holiday” known as Chrismukkah! Who wouldn’t love that?
9. Monica Geller (Friends)
Monica Geller is another character who likes to have everything perfect when it comes to the holidays. From her Thanksgiving meals to her Christmas tree, you can expect her to have everything under control. Well, sort of.
10 . D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Fuller House)
For those of us who grew up in the 90s, one of the best parts of Fuller House is the nostalgia, and the Tanners ALWAYS knew how to make the holidays special. Now that D.J. is a mom and has a family of her own, that enthusiasm continues, and it’s a joy to watch.
