Teen Wolf Review: Radio Silence (Season 6 Episode 5)

Reviews, Teen Wolf

Lydia Martin and Stiles Stilinski continue to give us the feels on Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 5, “Radio Silence.”

Their journeys are reflections of the kind of people they are and how much they mean to each other.

For years there’s been something brewing between Stiles and Lydia. And as they got to know each other and grew as people, they recognized how similar they were (smart, intuitive, adaptable, bold) and how well they worked together.

They became something more without realizing it and despite not acknowledging it until the very moment that Stiles disappears. Many would think that’s the end of their journey but it’s only the start.

Each of them have people telling them that they’re foolish for continuing to hope for a better outcome to the Ghost Riders. Lydia is having her sanity questioned by those she considers family and Stiles is by someone who has a vested interest in escaping but is an enemy.

The doubts only hinder them momentarily, as those sneaky feeling always do, before they keep fighting for one another. They know that the place they’re in or how the world around them is playing out, is wrong and they continue believing that their gut instinct is right.

If you’ve ever doubted Stydia and the direction that it’s going in Teen Wolf, this is the moment where that all ends.

This is endgame and the faith they have in each other is what’s going to pull them through in the next couple of episodes. It’s not gonna be easy, pleasant, or a walk in the park. It’s going to be the hardest thing they’ve ever faced.

They have an advantage that they love each other and that trumps all at the end of the day.

Stiles awakening in the train station and his subsequent meeting with Peter, clears up a lot of things and leaves us with even more questions about the Ghost Riders and what they’re up to.

This is more than just nicking people off the streets, their homes, or the lacrosse field and erasing them. The Ghost Riders terrorize and use fear on the people in the station to keep them docile. Any force, no matter how big, can be taken down if people unite.

The Ghost Riders fear that and prance around, shooting their guns and being major creepers, because of it. They fear what could happen when their victims realize the power they hold and their plan falls apart.

Stiles Stilinski has that power.

He’s unique, strong-willed, brave, and has a family like no other. Claudia’s appearance acts as a stopper so people can let go of Stiles. He’s the linchpin that can destroy everything the Ghost Riders have planned.

Sadly for them, or whoever is behind this Ghost Riders operation, they didn’t take into account a small redheaded genius with enough love in her heart to remember Stiles and get him back.

Additional Notes:
  • Is Peter truly dead? Please don’t tell me you brought him back, fired him up like Kate did, and killed him off before he could wear a V-Neck!
  • The person making the announcements and speaking to Scott and Lydia could be someone calling out for help or leading them all to their doom because they’re in charge of the Ghost Riders.
  • Canaan was a large and prosperous country in the Middle East that was destroyed by some catastrophic event not known to man. Coincidence? I think not!

Teen Wolf Review: Relics (Season 6 Episode 4)

Lyra is a TV and movie enthusiast. It all started on a dark night when she turned on Fox and fell in love with the X-Files. It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is. Her main love for the summer (with a mega re-watch happening) is Arrow. When she isn’t sharing her love for TV and movies she’s writing fan-fiction, taking care of her family, and puttering around her kitchen.
