Teen Wolf Review: Sundowning (Season 6 Episode 3)
Leave it to the sexy new teacher, who just happens to be a Nazi werewolf, to teach us a little bit about power on Teen Wolf Season 6 Episode 3 “Sundowning.”
Individually, a werewolf is weak. Control is harder to find and loneliness is a prevalent thing in your life. But a pack, a group of werewolves, banshees, chimeras, werecoyotes, and humans, is strong.
Together the McCall Pack wields a power that enemies, like the Ghost Riders, are afraid of. “Sundowning” is the first time you see the pack actually reach out and touch or challenge the enemy that has cowed them because of its legend.
Beforehand they felt like they had no control and could only standby with the feeling of longing for something/someone not there. An increase in numbers equals power. And with power comes a greater amount of control over the situation in hand.
When Parrish steps into the scene and confronts the Ghost Rider, there is a shift in the power dynamics of the room. At first he was battling a group of teenagers who only had determination on their side.
Parrish is a hell hound, a creature we don’t fully understand, yet know how powerful he is. The Ghost Rider could tell it was outnumbered, a shift in the power dynamics of the situations, and split in a whirl of wind.
That’s not to say the Ghost Riders won’t be back. They will. An entire room of high schoolers saw the Ghost Riders because of Corey’s foolish actions, despite initially and wholeheartedly wanting to just help in the situation.
The difference from here on out is that the McCall pack, including the Sheriff & Parrish, know that something is a miss in Beacon Hills and that they have the power to fight it together. The Ghost Riders aren’t untouchable stories or the boogie man hiding in your closet.
The Ghost Riders are real creatures who fear.
When there is fear in your enemy’s heart, there is an opportunity to conquer, destroy them, and get back what has been lost.
Specifically Stiles.
With Sheriff Stilinski, now known as Noah Stilinski, hearing his father’s worlds and finally admitting that maybe his subconscious is trying to tell him something, we’re one step closer to finding Stiles and all those that have been lost.
Even Peter.
The only thing left to worry about when we get Stiles back is the Nazi werewolf and what comes after. But as long as they’re united, I have no doubt the McCall pack will survive to see another day and whatever may come in their future.
Additional Thoughts:
- Liam and Hayden will never have a normal date. Bad luck left and right with those two.
- Scott is not ready to hand over power of Beacon Hills, but he is prepping Liam for that very thing. He’s found his successor. (Even if that successor messed up and is partially responsible for dozens disappearing.)
- If Malia heard Grandpa Stilinski talk about Stiles like that…she would’ve torn his throat out with her teeth!
- Per their contract, Ghost Riders can only enter scenes in slow motion.
- Claudia Stilinski can not be trusted. Her appearance is too convenient and is most likely a mirage to keep the Sheriff under control and not seeking out his son.
Favorite Moment from Sundowning
Scott, Malia, and Lydia walking in on the scene. All we needed was a fire in the background!
