10 Things We Want From The Vampire Diaries Season 8
With the fall season in full swing, it’s time for the return of The Vampires Diaries.
Sadly, The Vampires Diaries Season 8 will be our last chance to spend time with the Salvatore brothers.
It seems like only yesterday we were introduced to the world of Mystic Falls and all the vampires, witches, werewolves, doppelgängers, and mythological baddies the came along with it.
With little time to spare before we say goodbye, here’s what we hope to see when the final season of The Vampire Diaries premieres on Friday, October 21st:
1. Damon and Enzo to wreak havoc
Of course we want to see these two bad boys get saved by Stefan and the gang, but it wouldn’t hurt to see them be possessed for a while.
Even more interesting would be to see if they’re conscience of what they’re doing, or if their presence of mind has been completely taken over.
2. For Steroline to be happy… for a while at least
After spending the majority of Season 7 on the outs, let’s see Stefan and Caroline attempt to be happy together.
Fans of Klaroline may still be holding out hope for their favorite ship, but until that day comes, Stefan and Caroline can find time to be a solid pairing.
3. Alaric to finally find peace
Alaric has never been lucky in the romance department, so the show either needs to find him a woman who won’t die on him/leave him, or he needs to focus on being a good father to the twins.
The Alaric/Caroline pairing fizzled quickly and fans never really understood why someone like Alaric would settle for being in a loveless relationship.
On a side note, can Alaric and Damon get back to being drinking buddies again? Pretty please!
4. For familiar faces to show up
Most shows find a way to get old characters back into the fold. More importantly, their return should make sense.
With news of Tyler’s return, it shouldn’t be too much trouble to get a cameo from Jeremy.
Also, another crossover with The Originals would be a great way to bring closure to the relationships and conflicts that have been weaved between both series.
5. Less focus on new/side characters
No fan wants to spend the final episodes of their favorite show getting to know new characters.
It’s unavoidable that some new characters must be introduced, but we don’t need to waste too much time on giving them story lines that take away from our core group.
Speaking of new characters…
6. A quick and definitive explanation for the new villain
There has been no shortage of ancient villains introduced over the years, but this new mysterious big bad needs to be the ultimate evil.
Ending the show with a weak or uninteresting villain would be anticlimactic and wasted screen time.

Not a very objective article, it’s a shame.
Great list! I agree with everything, especially about Bonnie, Alaric, and Steroline.
You know, Caroline is in love with Stefan and that’s a fact. She is not going to change her mind from one day to another. If she didn’t fall in love with Klaus during the whole time she was stalking her, why would she now? You all claim to love Caroline Forbes but never respect the choices of the character. On the contrary, you want her to be paired with a guy that hurt her physically (yeah, when he stabbed that lamp through her chest; or when he ordered Tyler to bite her just for fun, remember?; or when he pretended to be Tyler just to have sex with Caroline and actually he was about to, which would have been rape if she wouldn’t have noticed, thank God she realized and stopped him). Her choice is Stefan, period, there’s nothing more than that.
