8 Reasons We’ll Miss MTV’s Teen Wolf

Lists, Teen Wolf

As we draw nearer to the Teen Wolf Season 6 premiere, a rush of love and anticipation begins to swell inside for the MTV show.

For over five seasons and 80 episodes, we’ve grown up with the teens of Beacon Hills. And soon we’ll have to say goodbye to the true alpha, lanky human, banshee, werecoyote forever.

Before that happens and we spiral in sadness at the inevitable end, let’s look at what makes Teen Wolf so special and the reasons why we’ll miss it.

Warning: A sense of community, romance, and fanfiction have made it to this list.

1. Scott & Stiles Bromance

We’ve watched Scott and Stiles grow up together, support each other, fall apart, spin out of control, and somehow keep on fighting by each other’s sides. They’re the heart of Teen Wolf.

Scott and Stiles are brothers that showed us that you get to choose your family. For Scott it’s a 147 pounds of pale skin and fragile bones who just so happens to be the bravest person he knows. And for Stiles it’s a puppy eyed true alpha who grins like a loon when you tell him you love him.

They’re a bromance made in heaven, who we hope get a chance to ride off into the sunset the same way this show started, together.

2. Strong, Fierce, Independent Women

Allison, Lydia, Malia, Kira, Melissa, Hayden. The list goes on and on when you take into account the fierce women of Teen Wolf. Every single season they looked danger, heartache, pain, and horror right in the eyes and made IT back down.

They didn’t fade into the background and let the guys take care of the danger plaguing Beacon Hills. (Imagine Scott & Stiles taking care of everything? I love them but let’s be realistic.) These women stood next to their loved ones while going through their own personal journeys that defined them as people.

Here’s to strong women like the ones on Teen Wolf. May we never forget them. May we be like them.

3. The Romance

Ship wars aside, romance helped balance out the weekly angst/drama of Teen Wolf. We were there when Scott fell in love with Allison, when Stiles and Malia got together, and when it all fell apart. We grew with them and learned about the strength and pain that comes with loving someone.

For those who didn’t know much about love, aka myself, Teen Wolf gave us life goals. Holding hands under a desk was the most romantic thing ever, falling in love with a spastic new girl was ok, and friendships could survive long after the romance is gone.

The final season will be giving us a romance that has been brewing from the very start. Something that’s been a long time coming and that we can’t wait to explore. Stydia.

4. The Monsters, Druids & More

Writing compelling drama is no easy feat when you have to throw horror and monsters into the mix. I’m not talking about the werewolves, kitsunes, and the occasional werecoyote.

I’m talking about the Darach, Nogitsune, Berserkers, and chimeras whose back splits open to reveal a tail! (Gag alert on that last one!)

Every season of Teen Wolf, the things that go bump in the night, keep getting scarier, uglier, and more sinister. This last season promises to keep with the tradition by introducing the Ghost Riders and throwing our hearts into a tailspin because they’re going to take Stiles!

Let’s hold hands and hope we don’t lose anyone in the Wild Hunt.

5. Parents in The Know

Adults are usually the last to figure out what their delinquent children are doing in young adult shows. And for a while I was certain that Teen Wolf would go this way. I’m glad they proved me wrong.

Melissa McCall and Sheriff Stilinski guide, support, and love their children. They aren’t side characters to Scott and Stiles adventures. They are main characters putting their lives on the line because that’s what families are for.

It was all history after that as she got lost in Doctor Who, The Marvel Verse and most recently everything DC. Her love for Doctor Who lead her to study abroad, where she fell into live-tweeting and the lovely explosion of fandom life that Tumblr is. Her main love for the summer (with a mega re-watch happening) is Arrow. When she isn’t sharing her love for TV and movies she’s writing fan-fiction, taking care of her family, and puttering around her kitchen.
