Pitch: Best Moments from ‘Beanball’ (Season 1 Episode 3)

Pitch, Reviews

We’re getting to know more and more about Ginny Baker, and Pitch is proving itself to be yet another incredible new Fall show this season.

On Pitch Season 1 Episode 3, Ginny continues to want her teammates to see her as just that — their teammate. In doing so, she becomes part of a beanball war, where she finds herself confronting someone from her past.

Here are a few of the best moments from “Beanball.”

1. Mike Lawson’s Meta Moment

After Mike and Amelia spend the night together, Amelia insists that no one can find out, and let’s it slip that Ginny not only still carries around Mike’s rookie card, but she used to have a poster of him on her wall.

If you grew up watching Saved by the Bell and had a crush on Zack Morris, I don’t think I need to explain the added humor in that line.

2. Mike’s Home Run

This is exciting news for the team, but the best part about it is Amelia’s reaction. She cheers a little too much before realizing her surroundings.

3. Ginny Hits Her Opponent

If she were a male pitcher, this would have apparently been a no brainer. But Mike tries to talk her out of hitting a member of the other team in effort to protect her.

The thing is, that means he’s treating her differently, which she points out isn’t any better than the other guys flat-out being rude to her. So, she shows her fearlessness — and her loyalty to her team — by hitting the guy anyway.

4. Al Makes His Case

Al makes a compelling case to Maxine over a special dinner, and it just so happens to work. He points out that if he’s fired, it’s going to look bad for everyone, including Ginny. He’s not losing his job. Not yet, anyway.

5. The Trevor Reveal

In another twist, we learn the reason for the Trevor flashbacks when the catcher seems to be protecting Ginny from getting hit. Because the catcher is her ex-boyfriend, and yes, he does want to protect her.
