Mr. Robot Review: eps2.8_h1dden-pr0cess.axx (Season 2 Episode 10)
Irony is Mr. Robot’s strong suit, and the first scene of Mr. Robot Season 2 Episode 10, “eps2.8_h1dden-pr0cess.axx,” showcases this quite well.
Terry Colby actually has the audacity to write a book entitled The Last Honest Man.
Seriously?
Does the book talk about how he sipped wine in his designer suit while deciding to kill a bunch of people as an executive at Evil Corp? I doubt it.
Speaking of Terry Colby, his mouth is disgusting. Why is he constantly talking about dicks?
I don’t appreciate his use of a racial slur either. Is this how men in corporate America actually speak, or is this dialogue just meant to make Evil Corp seem more evil?
As Terry Colby and Phillip Price casually toss around the name of the Leader of the Free World, I am struck by just how powerful these two random white men are. Price is literally instructing Colby to do something that will affect the future of two countries.
The arrogance and confidence that things will always work in their favor drips from these men, and makes me wonder what it would do to Mr. Robot if Elliot and Angela had been wrong, or if the hands of the people running Evil Corp. had been tied when they made the decisions that killed Angela’s mom.
Would this improve the show or ruin it?
I’m not sure, but it’s much more fun to watch evil people on TV than good ones.
Phillip Price: I always asked the question, “Am I the most powerful person in the room?” …To this day, I still ask that question. And the answer is still yes. In every room in the entire world, the answer is yes. With the exception of one…or two. And that drives me. I intend to leave a legacy. The standard of which was set by God when he created the earth and man after his own image. Anything less is not worth mentioning.
I am in love with this response. Phillip Price, evil as he is, is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters on Mr. Robot.
Phillip Price doesn’t just want to be successful; he wants to be a god.
Grandiose though it may be, I admire Price’s ambition. But does it say something about us as humans that it’s not enough for him to be a rich, powerful white man? Is it true for all of us that the more we have, the more we want?
Phillip Price and Joanna Wellick are both so powerful, yet their power is displayed in very different ways. Joanna is often the most powerful person in the room, but she doesn’t have to ask herself if she is because she already knows the answer.
Tyrell is a murderer, and she could bring him to his knees with one withering look and a few sharp words.
She doesn’t have to tell people she’s powerful. They know she is by the way she walks into a room, and the way she’s the one to decide when a conversation is over and when it’s just begun.
The way she whispers her threats instead of shouting them.
Joanna is a bad bitch and it will serve people well not to forget it.
As “eps2.8_h1dden-pr0cess.axx” comes to an end, my heart is racing for two reasons. Is Tyrell alive?!
Secondly, is Darlene dead?! Please don’t tell me she is.
Please. Don’t.
There are only two episodes left this season, and I have a feeling the cliffhangers are going to keep coming.
Other Random Thoughts:
- Are you surprised that Joanna’s closet is relatively small? I am.
- I was never really attracted to Christian Slater in the past, but he is sexy as hell as Mr. Robot.
- Wait a minute, is Evil Corp meant to be the fictional Apple?! Think about it: Evil corp puts an ‘E’ in front of all of their product names. They know way too much information about everyone. Phillip Price kind of looks like an older Steve Jobs. You see it now, don’t you?
