Blindspot: 10 Pressing Questions We Have After Watching “Heave Fiery Knot” (Season 2 Episode 2)

Blindspot, Reviews

After a week full of reveals, Blindspot is back with a fractured team and a few more reveals that have us asking more questions than finding answers.

To start, we still don’t know who the mole is, but we have a few questions that are helping us narrow down the suspects.

 1. If Orion was super secret then why is there a monument to it at all?

G.I Jane returns this week with another flashback that explains how the CIA terminated Orion back in 2013.

While what Mama Shepherd and Roman explain to Jane makes some sense it doesn’t answer the question of why a small, middle-of-nowhere memorial exists at all. Especially when this division was super-secret.

Is this something that’s meant to keep Remi/Jane on the side of Sandstorm? Could Shepherd have created a fake monument?

Something about the location of that stone doesn’t seem right.

2. Is there going to be a Nas vs. Patterson death match?

I love Patterson, and maybe I can warm up to Nas, but I don’t entirely trust her yet. So when she starts pulling proverbial rabbits out of hats during this episode, I am a little skeptical.

If this is a joint task force, and Nas is working with them, shouldn’t Patterson have access to this kind of software? This is definitely not helping her earn my trust.

3. Who invented gun-waltzing, and who is the other guy who thought it was a good idea?

So, let me get this straight. The DEA develops this program that sells guns back to the cartels so they can track them and they called it “gun waltzing?”

How is that a good idea?

Admit it, when you heard this plan you thought it was a bad move too. Not to mention a really stupid name that brings laughter every time it’s mentioned. Kudos to the cast for keeping a straight face saying that one.

Thank god that a quick search through Google for “gun waltzing” doesn’t turn up any such program.

4. Can Borden and Patterson please get together and play Oregon Trail for their first date?

Next to Nas, Borden is the only other character I would suspect of being the mole, and part of that reason is because of the fact that he’s a shrink who the team would tell their secrets to.

But the moment of levity where Dr. Borden talks to Patterson in the hallway and gives her an old floppy disk of Oregon Trail is too adorable for words.

Patterson has to explain that floppy discs are obsolete and then he talks about emails she jokes about it involving a computer. This is a scene that will be forever hashtagged with #thefeels!

This is especially funny when you consider that moments ago, Borden advised both Jane and Kurt about how to deal with their emotions in really poetic, eloquent terms.

Apparently, when he’s talking to Patterson, he has no game.

So can their first date involve reconstructing a computer and having them play Oregon Trail? I can’t imagine anything more adorable.

5. Is Roman available for self-defense classes?

Roman is desperate for Jane to be safe, and therefore engages in a fight with a couple other Sandstorm members. This now makes twice that Roman has taken down multiple opponents quickly.

Please sign us up for classes.

6. Why is Nas listened to Jane’s therapy sessions?

After insisting that Jane could trust her, Nas is seen listening to Jane’s therapy session with Dr. Borden.

Now, those sessions should be private, but given that it’s Jane and Nas, I am not entirely surprised she is listening.

First, let’s remember that Nas is from the NSA, an organization that has been exposed of spying on its citizens. Second, listening to these tapes could mean one of two things.

The better options is that Nas suspects a mole in the FBI is looking for one, but we all know how well it went last time someone came into the FBI looking for a mole. If she’s doing it on the sly the tapes could give her insight into those around her when they’re at their most vulnerable.

The other option is that Nas is the mole and looking to exploit Jane’s weaknesses and possibly keeping tabs on her to report back to Sandstorm.

We’ll have to wait and see to find out which.

7. Is it time for the team to go to group therapy?

Moving through this episode, there is a lot of infighting and mistrust.

Much of it is unresolved from last season, and we cant expect the team to work it all out in just a couple episodes, but the way some of the comments into each other where it hurt, was a blow.

8. What exactly is Sandstorm’s endgame?

Nas points out that although this week’s tattoo did help them take down the Juarez Cartel, airline stocks are falling, and other cartels making power grabs.

She points out that Sandstorm is giving her a limited picture to suit their needs, the effects of these ripples are yet unknown.

9. Do Daddy issues ever go away?

Allie returns with some big news. She’s three months pregnant. This happens just after Kurt lets go of his father, and it may bring out some daddy issues.

It seems a little early for any of characters to be tying the knot and settling down with kids, so we’ll have to wait and see where this storyline goes for Kurt.

Of course, during this scene Kurt is drinking. So.

10. Whose side is Roman on?

After spending an entire episode bemoaning the safety of his sister, the last thirty seconds of the episode show him drugging her.

What is he up to? Is this what he meant by protecting her? Logically, he may have had orders from Shepherd to bring her in after the missing Cade was sited, but that isn’t going to stop me from biting my nails until next week’s episode.

Definitely not.

  • I thought Sandstorm put together that Orion memorial. It’s not anything official.

What pissed me off about the team is, Zapata sold Jane out to CIA and Reade was blackmailed and he did the what Sandstorm guy asked him to do for a while. Now they are acting like highschool bullies.

    • But Roman said something along the lines of: “This is all your country thought you were worth!” So I thought it was a memorial that the government funded, or at least erected.

As for the team, yes exactly! Their attitudes have been driving me nuts the last few episodes. The team was really supportive in the beginning but they jumped all over Jane without really giving her a chance to explain herself. Of course, she’s caught between a rock and a hard place herself and there wasn’t really any choice. I am glad she came clean about all, or most of it, in the season premiere, I think that was air that needed to be cleared.

It still doesn’t excuse the high school bully attitude that Reade and Zapata are exhibiting in these last few episodes.
