10 Things We Want from NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8

10 Things We Want from NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8

Lists, NCIS: LA

We’re a little over a month away from Fall television, but it’s not too soon to start thinking about where we want our favorite shows to go. In fact, we’ve been pretty much thinking about it non-stop ever since the season ended almost four months ago.

Yes, we live and breathe television. And we’re not too ashamed of it.

NCIS: LA ended the season on a high note, and with all it’s characters accounted for, safe, and most importantly, happy. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be high-stakes drama in season eight, though. With this team, we can always expect high stakes drama.

So, here are 10 things we want from the new season of NCIS: LA:

1. A confirmation of the status of Eric and Nell’s relationship

Are they together? Are they not? What is even going on with Eric and Nell?

Inquiring minds want to know. And they want to know in no uncertain terms, okay? Stop teasing us.

Just tell us.

2. Some resolution about the mole thing – and for it to be someone we’ve seen before

The mole story-line has been something they’ve teased, resolved, teased, resolved, and this season seems to be no exception. But, if there’s going to be a mole, can be it someone other than Un-named extra #3? I want something that truly shakes up the team!

3. More Callen/Sam bromance

Callen and Sam work best when they’re bantering, and seeing life from two completely different perspectives, yes. But, and here’s the quicker, this only works because we know these two men would go to hell and back for each other.

I know they care. And that’s why I want to see more of their dynamic.

4. A real, lasting romance for G Callen

His past has taken precedence for the past, well …forever, but it finally feels like it’s time for Callen to be …well, happy. Whether that’s with Anna or someone else, I really just want to see Callen find some love.

And some peace.

5. The Deeks, M episode we’ve been hearing about for ages

We’ve had Deeks’ backstory, yes, but he’s the only one of the four core characters who hasn’t had an episode named after him. The showrunners know this, as this gets asked every time they do interviews.

So, what gives? What are they waiting for? More importantly, what do they have planned?

I don’t know, but I want it. Now.

6. Team bonding. Especially among the core four

Kensi and Deeks, Callen and Sam — these four usually spend a lot of time together -– and yet, they’re not exactly a team. Deeks is still somewhat on the outside, closer to Sam than Callen, and now romantically involved with Kensi, which creates a weird dynamic.

The question then becomes – what will it take for the NCIS: LA team to truly become a team?

Chaos and mayhem, I bet.

7. A Hetty that acts in the best interest of the team and doesn’t keep secrets – at least not regarding things that affect her people

Hetty has always kept secrets from the team, yes, but before it seemed like she kept secrets to protect her team and now it seems she keeps them for sport, or just to make things harder/more interesting.

I want old Hetty back. The one who cared. The one who put her people first.

8. No Granger

The show has shoved Owen Granger down our throats for years, and yet they’ve never done anything to make us truly like him. And now it’s about time for the experiment to end.

I don’t want Granger. I don’t anticipate I’ll want him anytime soon. And we’re probably better off without him.

9. For Daniela Ruah to not completely disappear from the show while she goes on maternity leave

I get it, Daniela Ruah is pregnant, and family comes first. But the show did a pretty decent job of still keeping Kensi somewhat around while she was on maternity leave the first time, and we hope they manage to do the same this time.

Even if that means she gets hurt. Or she goes on a deep undercover assignment and can only communicate sporadically. Just don’t cut her out of the show completely.

No one wants that.

10. A Densi engagement done right

We know it’s coming. They’ve teased it enough. And now the expectations are through the roof.

We’ve waited a long time for this couple, and they’ve done a lot of things right, especially during the last season. So, now, I just want them to do one last thing right. Make this engagement about them.

Don’t make it about the team, about the mission, or about their families. Make it about their love for each other.

It’s not a lot to ask, is it?

  • I was with you until #8 and 9, but I have to disagree with you thre. I love Granger and I don’t want to see him go. An while I understand that Kensi is not going anywhere, DR’s maternity leave notwithstanding, I get tired of the whole show being turned on its ear to accommodate her absence. It seems like every time we get promised a juicy Deeks storyline (PTSD, going back to LAPD, the long promised Deeks M episode), DR gets pregnant and those plans get squashed. If they didn’t define Deeks solely in terms of his relationship with Kensi, they could work around that. As for the engagement, I’m no shipper, but if they must go forward with it, can it please have nothing to do with metaphors, sayoc, blades, boxes, racoons and frozen liquids.

    • Although I am a Densi shipper, and want an engagement, I totally agree with you that I really resent the Deeks storyline being turned on its ear to accommodate DR’s maternity leave. I am happy for DR that she is pregnant and happy. However, they owe the loyal fans the Deeks, M story this season. Additionally ECO said at Comicon that originally this was the season Deeks would go back to LAPD and now he does not know if that will happen. There is no reason it cannot happen just because the actress is on maternity leave.

    • “can it please have nothing to do with metaphors, sayoc, blades, boxes, racoons and frozen liquids”

      Amen!

  • Most important, number one , above all else, I want the Deeks, M episode they promised us back in season 5, and then again promised us for season 8.I want a well written script which showcases Eric Christian Olsen’s acting .
Second, I want a Densi engagement done right as you said.
Third, I would like to see Deeks partnered with the rest of the awesome cast while Daniela is on maternity leave. I would like to see him with Sam, Callen, Nell, Hetty, Eric or Granger. I certainly do not want to see him partnered with actresses , I use the term loosely, who are not up to the level of the cast and tend to recur on their show .
