13 Summer TV Shows You Should Really Be Watching
7. BrainDead
One-third political drama, one-third thriller, one-third horror, BrainDead hilariously mixes the going ons of Washington with the supernatural, introducing some evil bugs with an agenda to maybe, possibly, take over the US government by making the senators …well, better?
BrainDead airs Sundays at 10/9c on CBS.
6. The Last Ship
Is there really anything better in the summer than a post-apocalyptic drama? The Last Ship follows Tom Chandler (Eric Dane), Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) and the crew of the Nathan James following a virus outbreak that changed the world. We get plenty of action and suspense from an incredible cast, but with Chandler and Slattery leading the group, it always feels hopeful.
The Last Ship airs Sundays at 9/8c on TNT.
5. Murder in the First
Murder in the First isn’t your typical case-of-the-week procedural. Instead, it follows its cases through an entire season, offering both sides of the story and making it perfect for your summer binge-watch. It’s a can’t miss series that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Murder in the First airs Sundays at 10/9c on TNT.
4. UnREAL
Currently in its second season, UnREAL continues to surprise its audience and keep us coming back for more. It’s a whole new look at reality television, and it includes some of the most complex characters on television.
UnREAL airs Mondays at 10/9c on Lifetime.
3. Suits
Suits begins its sixth season this summer, and if you haven’t been watching, now is the time to catch up. There’s nothing quite like watching Harvey Specter and Mike Ross working together to win a case, but this season? It’s a going to be game-changer.
Suits airs Wednesdays at 9/8c.
2. Mr. Robot
The award-winning Mr. Robot, starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater, is basically Fight Club meets Dexter. If you haven’t caught up on this show, now is the time. Seriously.

1. Orange is the New Black
Let’s be honest. We know you’ve already watched Orange is the New Black Season 4 in its entirety, and you probably did it in a weekend. But if you didn’t, it’s time to catch up on the powerful series that brings to light the problems of our prison system, and always continues to surprise us.
