ATX Television Festival, Interviews

Hulu’s Casual was just one of many series featured at this year’s ATX Television Festival.

We caught up with Tara Lynne Barr, who plays the role of Laura, to chat a bit about the comedy series.

Barr explained why she thinks the Hulu series is unique. “To be honest, what makes it so unique is that it says so much with so little. And I think a lot of people tend towards being very showy and demonstrative. You know, there’s dragons and explosions,” she said.

“I think one of Casual’s great strengths is that is sort of trusts that its viewers are very patient and just as smart as the people who are making the show.”

Barr also shared what subject she would most want to take if she were to choose her own homeschooling curriculum, since her character participated in several unique subjects on a recent episode.

Her choice? Anything to do with cooking or baking. “I would be the most insufferable teacher’s pet in that class,” she said.

Casual is currently available for streaming on Hulu, with new episodes each Tuesday.
