The CW Makes Big Changes: The New 2016-2017 Schedule
On Thursday morning, The CW presented their 2016-2017 schedule to advertisers, affiliates, and the media.
The network also surprised many with a number of changes to their lineup, as well as a few popular shows missing from the fall schedule.
Supergirl, which recently moved to The CW from its former home at CBS, will remain in its current Monday nights at 8/7c time-slot, replacing Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which has a new home on Friday nights at 9/8c. Jane the Virgin remains in its 9/8c home, creating a female-power Monday.
Supernatural, going into a record-breaking 12th season, is also on the move, headed to Thursday nights at 9/8c, following DC’s Legends of Tomorrow at 8/7c.
The network also announced the arrival of two new shows this fall, including the new No Tomorrow , a dramedy which focuses on a couple who live each day as though it will be their last, and the new drama Frequency, based on the New Line Cinema film, about a young detective who discovers she can communicate with her dead father through a ham radio.
Noticeably absent from the fall schedule were The Originals, Reign, The 100, iZombie, and the highly anticipated live-action Riverdale, based on the Archie comics, all of which will premiere sometime in the mid-season.
