Teen Wolf Review: A Credible Threat (Season 5 Episode 17)
The Beast is ramping up the carnage and fear in Teen Wolf‘s “A Credible Threat.”
Instead of running in fear, the people of Beacon Hills are gathering information and investigating every possible avenue of interest. They have no other option besides stopping The Beast in its shadowy tracks.
Let’s talk about the pieces that are starting to fall together and those still in the works.
Mason is the cutest thing ever. With those soulful brown eyes, he’s able to smile and pass as the funny side character. Except he isn’t just that. He’s in the middle of a supernatural fight between two ancient forces and a Pack. Corey reacts to his kiss with trepidation and shock because he senses something off about the boy he likes. Is it too far of a jump to say that Mason is the last chimera, The Beast?
Even Liam going after the largest threat they’ve ever faced with no hesitation means that there is something different and recognizable about the threat they’re facing. Whoever this poor soul is the McCall Pack knows him/her.
In other news, Parrish is dead. It’s likely a turn of events no one saw coming, but the deputy has been dead since his military service. Connecting him with the hellhound inside serves as his next chance at life.
The hellhound’s failure to destroy The Beast could be because there was no full melding of the minds. In turn there’s been a disconnect in the information both sides have available to them. It will be easier for Parrish to access his powers and destroy The Beast from here on out. With Lydia free of Eichen House and able to assist his chances of finding the truth increase.
Kira is not getting any better. You’d think after all her experiences she’d have some semblance of control. It’s only getting worse. The pack is no longer helping, neither is her love for Scott. Even her family changes nothing for this kitsune. She’s battling something inside of her that is uncontrollable. Kira needs to face the fact that if she sees no improvement, the desert with all those lost women might be her best option.
The most frustrating thing is that no one is truly offering her help. Asking her to snap out of it does nothing. She needs guidance from other kitsunes that have lost their hold on the spirit inside. There’s no way she’s the only one. Mom needs to call up help asap.
All this chaos brewing seems like the prime time for Theo to pop up and marinade in everyone’s angst. Suspiciously he’s not present at all in the episode. He’s obviously up to no good, but what kind? Somewhere out there Theo is getting his nails fitted while Deucalion shakes his head in shame and confusion. He knows the kid is struggling to grasp at the strength he’s always been after.
It’s going to take more than fancy mind games to win this game. Fortunately Theo will never truly win against the McCall Pack because he lacks something essential, loyalty. With his chimeras defecting left and right he’ll have nothing left in no time.
