Teen Wolf Review: Dreamcatchers (Season 5 Episode 3)
So, that just happened.
Is anyone else still feeling extremely confused about this whole season of Teen Wolf? Because I am.
Teen Wolf Season 5 Episode 3, “Dreamcatchers,” left me wondering so many things, coming up with insane theories, and maybe even questioning whether or not a certain someone will ever return.
To start off, I am left with the cliffhanger of Lydia. She is left injured as Kira tries to apply pressure to the wound, on the ground, barely able to string together a sentence. And I know from the first episode that Lydia survives this wound. I know that she ends up in a mental asylum.
Or does she? What if this is Lydia’s start to insanity. Or was what we saw in the first episode just Lydia’s night terror? Could she be the next victim of the three scientists?
So many questions. So far away.
And next, is the mythological plot of this season. Kanimas. That’s right! Tracy from the last episode turns out to be a Kanima, and she goes on some rampage, killing everyone that ever cared for her — including her father and her therapist. In the end, though, she is killed by the three scientists that can apparently disappear into thin air.
All of this talk about Kanima’s makes me think that Colton Haynes may be reprising his role as Jackson this season! There were some whispers about it on the internet after he left Arrow, but I feel like this is definitely cementing that theory.
The last scene gave me so many feels. Yes, they are for Tracy, and yes, I feel so incredibly sad for her and what happened to her. But what really gets to me, is Malia. Malia, who voices her opinion that she wants to kill Tracy, twice. It’s great to see this human side of her, after all the little quips her favorite food being deer, etc.
She also seems incredibly afraid of what she saw, and that means a lot. Malia always goes head first into a fight — never once before has she ever come across as scared. So that means, be afraid everyone! Be very afraid.
All in all, I think this is a good episode. The start of this season seems to be a little slower than usual, but I feel like the writers are just letting us prepare — giving us lighter episodes before things get extremely dark. If the mental asylum scene was anything to go by, it will; it will get extremely dark.
And I cannot wait until it happens!
Things to think about:
- Papa Stilinski and Mama Martin? What? No! My Stydia heart just cringed. If they get together, would that make Stiles and Lydia… step-siblings?
- Theo still seems incredibly sketchy. Just saying.
- Can we have more Parrish scenes please?
