This Week In Television: New Pilot Orders, Parenthood Deleted Scenes, and More

Grey's Anatomy, How To Get Away With Murder, New Girl, News, Parenthood, Scandal

From mid-season premieres to season finales and new pilot orders, we’ve got highlights from a heck of a week in television. Check them out below!

Of course, there will be spoilers, so read at your own risk!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins The Cast Of Extant For Season 2.

He’s no Denny Duquette in this series, though. Morgan (Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, Weeds) will play JD Richter, a mercenary and bounty hunter who feels he has nothing to lose. He’s also quite a drinker and a bit of a womanizer. Season 2 of Extant premieres this summer.

Pilot Orders Galore, Including Bryan Cranston Drama

According to Deadline, CBS has picked up a drama titled “Sneaky Pete,” which is written and executive produced by Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston and House creator David Shore. The series focuses on a thirty-something con man who uses a secret identity to take down bad guys far worse than himself.

That’s just one in a long list of pilot orders this week, including an Ellen DeGeneres comedy starring Idina Menzel, and Johnny Knoxville pilot, and a comedy inspired by the frontman of Weezer titled, Detour.

New Girl: Will Zooey Deschanel’s Pregnancy Be Written Into The Show?

While her sister’s pregnancy will in fact be written into the story line of Bones, TV Line reports that Zooey Deschanel’s pregnancy will not be written into New Girl.

Parenthood Ends With a Powerful Finale

After six seasons, Parenthood ended on Thursday, leaving its fans drowning in tears. The emotional finale included Sarah’s wedding and the death of Zeek, which was saved for the final minutes of the episode. A montage of the kids playing baseball and spreading his ashes also showed flash-forwards of happy endings and growing families for the Bravermans.

A few scenes were cut from the finale for time, including a visit from Seth. Well, get your tissues ready, because we have that deleted scene here:

TGIT Returns With Tears and Surprises

The much anticipated return of TGIT was full of emotional moments and surprises. On Grey’s Anatomy, Jackson and April deal with the news of their baby, while Meredith and Derek seem like they might work things out after all — but from a distance. And just where is Olivia Pope? We’re still not quite sure, but we do know her kidnapping is part of a much bigger plan on Scandal. How To Get Away With Murder included the appearance of special guest star, Marcia Gay Harden, who plays Sam’s sister. Yikes!
