Avatar: Seven Havens Review: Pavi and Nisha’s Story Continues to Thrill (Season 1 Episodes 4-6)

Reviews

Pavi and Nisha grow stronger as they adjust to their roles as the Avatar in Avatar: Seven Havens, but it comes with conflict.

Season 1 Episode 4, “The Faceless,” puts Pavi and Nisha to the ultimate test, but they do not always get it right.

With a new threat to benders and more people falling ill with the Affliction, Pavi and Nisha will not catch a break anytime soon, especially since no one outside the White Lotus can know about the Avatar’s resurgence.

However, Pavi and Nisha are not the only ones struggling with their secret. Jae must learn to juggle the White Lotus and his relationship with his boyfriend, Datu.

It is difficult for Jae to navigate his secret status as a member of the White Lotus and a protector of the Avatar. It certainly does not help that Datu wholeheartedly believes in the anti-Avatar propaganda — including the rumor that Jae’s Brigade could be hiding her.

Jae and Datu refuse to be honest with each other despite their seemingly profound love. This factor could backfire the longer they hide their secrets and refuse to trust each other.

Ultimately, Jae and Datu’s relationship might not survive this obstacle, which would be a real shame because they have a lot of potential to grow.

Avatar: Seven Havens has an opportunity to portray a long-term relationship facing hardships and overcoming them, and hopefully, the show will take this route. It would also develop Jae’s and Datu’s individual character arcs.

Even though the animation will likely remain mediocre throughout the season, Avatar: Seven Havens makes up for it with a great story and good pacing.

The narrative progresses at a steady pace, building momentum slowly as each episode becomes more exciting than the last.

Pavi: No matter what we discover, we’ll face it together. You’re stuck with me, sis. I’m like roach-mites, and I’m not going anywhere.

The show’s highlight is definitely Pavi and Nisha’s unique bond. Their recent years are very different, which shapes their characters quite nicely.

They train together, but it is clear Nisha grasps bending the elements much better than Pavi does. Nisha is desperate to fulfill her role as the Avatar, but she tends to scare people and puts herself in jeopardy.

On the flip side, Pavi connects with people more easily, even though her bending abilities are not as advanced as Nisha’s.

As a result, Nisha and Pavi are at their best when they work together. When they put their minds to it, nothing can stop them — not even an evil source from the Spirit World causing the Affliction.

Nisha is more chaotic, while Pavi is more peaceful. This could suggest an inherent darkness lingering inside Nisha, while Pavi has inherent goodness.

However, as long as Pavi and Nisha stand by each other, nothing can break them. The narrative can throw any amount of evil at Nisha, but she has Pavi to support her. Pavi might not be able to face certain enemies alone, but she has Nisha by her side.

Hopefully, Avatar: Seven Havens keeps this theme consistent as the show progresses because it would be terrible to break these sisters apart.

Avatar: Seven Havens Season 1 Episode 6, “Night of the Afflicted,” ends on a particularly thrilling note, as Chancellor Kayoko reaches out to the other Havens for help.

This cliffhanger could be a real turning point for the show, considering Karthik’s secrets, the Affliction’s continued growth, and Pavi and Nisha’s mysterious past.

The other Havens could seriously affect these aspects, so it will be exciting to see how the characters and their conflicts evolve depending on who and what lies in the other Havens.
