X-Men ’97 Season 2 Trailer: Apocalypse Reigns Supreme in the Past and Future

News

The Age of Apocalypse has arrived, and there’s nothing that the X-Men, Magneto, or anyone else can do about it on X-Men ’97 Season 2.

Marvel Animation released the trailer for X-Men ’97 Season 2, which premieres on Wednesday, July 1, on Disney+. Fans in New York will be treated to a special sneak preview at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

X-Men ’97 Season 1 had much to deal with, including Bastion trying to destroy humanity and the loss of Gambit. Season 2 looks to the future — and the past.

(L-R): Beast (voiced by George Buza), Bishop (voiced by Isaac Robinson-Smith), Rogue (voiced by Lenore Zann), Professor X (voiced by Ross Marquand), Magneto (voiced by Matthew Waterson), and Nightcrawler (voiced by Adrian Hough) in Marvel Animation’s X-MEN ’97 Season 2, exclusively on Disney+. The trailer sees the repercussions of Bastion’s actions taking full effect, splitting the X-Men up in history. While Professor X, Magneto, Beast, Rogue, Nightcrawler, and Bishop ended up in ancient Egypt, Cyclops and Jean Grey are trapped in a dystopian future.

It appears that Cyclops and Jean Grey’s son, Nathan Summers, is getting his own arc to become Cable, who was previously seen on Season 1. Whatever Storm might be doing with Nathan looks to make him the antihero he ultimately becomes.

Meanwhile, Wolverine and Morph are stuck defending the present from Apocalypse, who intends to wipe out the X-Men from history. Things may have already been set in stone, but more mutants will be lending a hand. Emma Frost, Jubilee, Sunspot, and more make their return as they prepare for the worst.

It looks like X-Men ’97 won’t be letting up on the emotional deaths as some of the X-Men revel over climactic events.

There are also quite a few more faces, like Polaris and Deadpool, who Morph transformed into, but it might not be enough to stop Apocalypse and whatever threats arise in the X-Men’s absence.
