Frank Castle may have gone into hiding after Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, but, haunted by the memories, he’ll never escape his calling.

Disney+ released the trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill, which releases on Wednesday, May 12, at 9/8c. This special presentation will release a week after the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

Ever since the antihero disappeared after saving Matt Murdock’s life, fans have been wondering what he’s up to. Although viewers can expect him to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Frank’s journey is taking a short pit stop.

The Punisher: One Last Kill trailer reveals that Frank has been dealing with a lot of trauma since the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. All alone, all he can do is try to survive day by day, as the assumed ghost of his friend, Curtis Hoyle, haunts him.

In his own headspace, Frank also reflects on losing his daughter, Lisa, but seems to find solace with a young girl. Despite Frank trying to live his “best” life, it all comes crashing down on him when the gangs of New York begins hunting him. It is speculated that one of these gangs is the Gnucci crime family from The Punisher.

What ensues is a cat-and-mouse chase throughout the streets of New York City as the they try to take Frank out. From trying to burn Frank in his apartment to being ambushed on a rooftop, Frank does all he can to fight back.

When the young girl gets captured by them, Frank must give it his all in order to find some form of peace. Frank must learn how to balance enacting justice with his personal need for vengeance.

As the synopsis reads, Frank must find “meaning beyond revenge, when an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”

Jon Bernthal is set to return as Frank Castle, aka “The Punisher”, alongside Jason R. Moore, who reprises his role as Curtis Hoyle from The Punisher.

The Punisher: One Last Kill was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green with a script co-written by Bernthal and Green.
