The Morning Show Season 5 Adds Reneé Rapp in a Recurring Role
Reneé Rapp is joining the cast of The Morning Show Season 5 ensemble.
This recurring role marks Rapp’s return to TV after exiting HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls amid its third season. Rapp did so to focus on her music career. Shortly after the season concluded, the streamer canceled the series, in which Rapp played Leighton Murray.
On The Morning Show, Rapp will play Samantha, “a young rising star in the UBN news division determined to make it in media on her own terms,” per Deadline‘s exclusive report.

Apple TV shared the news by calling Rapp’s character “new network talent.”
This casting comes after two other additions to the ensemble earlier this month. Deadline also exclusively reported that Jeff Daniels will appear in a major recurring role. His character, Lukas, is described as “a self-made billionaire and founder of a well-known investment firm.”
The outlet also confirmed that Jesse Williams will play “Vernon, UBN’s newest Head of News, who is known as a brash pot-stirrer with a talent for grabbing and keeping an audience.”
Apple TV renewed the series for its fifth season on the same day The Morning Show Season 4 Episode 1, “My Roman Empire,” premiered in September 2025. The 10-episode season concluded in November.

The Morning Show Season 5 stars returning cast members Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, and Jon Hamm.
Executive producer Charlotte Stoudt is The Morning Show‘s showrunner, and executive producer Mimi Leder is the director.
The show’s executive producers also include Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer through Media Res, Witherspoon alongside Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, as well as Aniston and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films. Zander Lehmann and Micah Schraft are also executive producers.
The series is produced by the studio Media Res.
