9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 Episode 15 Review: Bad Girls
Dixie experiences the consequences of her actions on 9-1-1: Nashville Season 1 Episode 15, “Bad Girls.”
Up until now, Blue has gone along with all of her decisions and backed her faithfully to anyone who spoke ill of her. Things change, though, when a series of events finally opens his eyes to the manipulation and abuse.
Meanwhile, Ryan spends the hour trying to uncover a secret Samantha is hiding.

Wide Awake
Blue’s relationship with Dixie has been an issue since the beginning, making his actions on “Bad Girls” that much more exhilarating.
Growing up as an only kid with a single mom, it’s no surprise the two have a close bond. However, Blue has developed an unhealthy relationship with Dixie.
Not only does he rely on her opinions, but he also follows her orders too closely, and never questions her actions, even in moments when he should.
“Bad Girls” sees that relationship dynamic thrown awry, though, when Blue learns the truth about his conception.

Unfortunately, it puts him in a difficult situation: choosing between his allegiance to his mother and his connection to his newfound family in Blythe and Don.
Dixie initially gets her way, turning the situation and placing the blame on Don and Blythe. She convinces him that they’re only offering to host his birthday at the mansion as a way to drive a wedge between her and him.
Blue is adamant about believing Dixie, even going as far as to accuse Don and Blythe of being the manipulative ones. Despite her efforts to have him see her true nature, Taylor is accused of talking badly about Dixie.
Even with Taylor’s efforts, it isn’t until Station 113 responds to a disturbing call that he finally sees through the misconceptions.

Dixie wants to keep Blue close to her, going as far as to make him believe that she’s the only one who could love and be there for him. However, when he sees that same sentiment on full display during their call, he realizes just how wrong he’s been.
There may not be padlocks on his doors or bars on his windows, like their victim, but Dixie has done everything in her power to make sure Blue never leaves her. Because of that, it only makes her decision to kick him out that much more hurtful.
After a lifetime of abiding by her rules and never questioning her, Blue is kicked to the curb the one time he fights back. It’s a life-altering decision that is bound to affect their interactions for the rest of the season.
Their relationship is crucial to the plot of the series, so to see that dynamic tainted will be interesting to explore moving forward.

Bun in the Oven
After the courageous outing on “Hard Knox,” where we see Ryan and Samantha save a hiker in need of help, the series keeps the spotlight on their relationship. But, is that the best decision?
Ryan spends the hour trying to uncover a secret from Samantha after catching her in a lie about work. Not only that, but she’s also changed her phone password, causing further turmoil for Ryan as he ponders over what she could be hiding.
Thankfully for him, Samantha ends up being pregnant, washing away his worries. The not-so-great news: during their brief separation, Samantha found out she has a heart-shaped uterus, making any pregnancy high risk.

There has been minimal buildup for Ryan and Samantha’s marriage until the most recent handful of episodes. And as I’ve said previously, the two aren’t the most exciting couple.
Throwing a pregnancy storyline at the two this early, before properly building something that fans can grow to root for, is not the best decision. Taylor and Blue have only been in a relationship for two or three episodes, and they already hold the same amount of, if not more, appeal.
Not to say that the storylines on 9-1-1: Nashville are predictable, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if we see Samantha have another miscarriage. There feels like too much foreshadowing that something horrific is bound to happen.
Stray Thoughts:
- Finally, we’re getting more and more screen time spent on Roxie! We need a deep dive, throwback episode that allows us to learn about her past and what led her to where she is today.
- Cammie was sorely missed in this outing.
