High Potential Season 2 Episode 11 Review: NPC

High Potential, Reviews

Karadec explores a second chance. It turns out you can try again at love on High Potential Season 2 Episode 11, “NPC.” Season 2 is a mixed bag of episodes that have left some disappointed.

However, “NPC” is a strong addition to the sophomore season. We learn a lot more about Karadec’s life beyond his badge while getting one of the most interesting cases of the season.

Lucia walks back into Karadec’s life. She’s an old flame he hasn’t quite let go of, but doesn’t know if things can be different this time. Selena and Morgan encourage him to take a chance on them again.

He doesn’t want to hurt her because he knows all the issues that come with dating a law enforcement person. Selena also shares her dating woes that led to a divorce and estranged daughters.

We get a two-for-one deal on details on these characters’ lives. It’s nice to know more about them.

Additionally, it reminds us that High Potential has been painting a very clear image of Morgan’s life, but has slacked on the details of the rest of these characters. Season 2 is finally starting to fill some of those blanks.

We already like Lucia because she’s forcing Karadec to change. We’re seeing a happier, looser version of one of our favorite detectives.

Unfortunately, Karadec and Lucia likely won’t last — potentially may not survive the season. Therefore, we can only invest so much time in their relationship, but we will enjoy the ride.

The introduction of Lucia means High Potential is continuing to expand this world with recurring characters and building backstories. Selena’s ex-husband and children are probably next to enter this world.

We can’t wait.

As much fun as it is to learn more about Karadec, the real star of “NPC” is the bonkers case. It’s a tale of two sons.

Only it’s not, actually.

It’s a story about grief, desperation, and a clever way to cover up murder. High Potential rarely shies away from a twist, but they don’t all land. This one works.

You may predict that the twin accused is not the culprit, but it is hard to predict the existence of only one son. This elaborate plan and false identity give an already complex story more layers.

The plot to murder a game rival doesn’t happen often in these procedural shows, but then the part about puffer fish poisoning and game addiction creates so many topics mixed into one.

It may be a few too many, but that doesn’t take away from the entertainment factor of “NPC.”

It keeps you captivated from start to finish and curious to learn more. Not just more about the plot, but all the topics discussed.

Maybe it’s time to look into how frequent game addiction happens.

Overall, “NPC” is one of High Potential Season 2’s best episodes. It adds so many interesting layers, creates twists that work, and starts building the foundation for the lives of these characters beyond Morgan.
