10 Most Anticipated Dynamics in Bridgerton Season 4 (Other than Benedict & Sophie)

Bridgerton, Lists

Bridgerton Season 4 is approaching quickly, and we could not be more excited. The new season will tell Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek’s forbidden inter-social class romance, but there will also be additional storylines.

The introduction of Sophie means that the show will introduce several additional characters, prompting a new batch of dynamics to look forward to. Season 4 will also revisit familiar and beloved relationships — both romantic and platonic — from previous seasons.

In no particular order, here are the top 10 dynamics we want to see more of in Bridgerton season 4:

1. Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Bridgerton

All the Bridgerton romances are wonderful, but Anthony and Kate’s story is truly something special.

Not only are Anthony and Kate widely beloved, but they are also Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton, establishing an exclusive role as the heads of the household. Once Anthony and Kate return from India with their newborn son, they will likely take over most of Violet’s responsibilities.

As the eldest in both their families and primary caregivers, they feel responsible for the younger Bridgerton siblings, doting on and guiding them through life.

It will be exciting to see how Anthony and Kate navigate their roles while experiencing parenthood for the first time. These two have a lot more to bring to the table, despite them no longer being the leads.

2. Posy Li and Sophie Baek

Sophie Baek is the leading lady of Season 4 and a brand-new character, meaning there are many Sophie-centric dynamics to look forward to. One of those relationships involves her stepsister, Posy Li.

Sophie has two stepsisters, Rosamund and Posy, but her relationship with the latter is far more important. Rosamund takes after her mother, embodying a mean girl who torments Sophie. In contrast, Posy has a soft spot for Sophie.

However, Posy cannot be too kind because her mother and sister will notice, leaving Posy conflicted to stand by Sophie. Posy’s internal struggle makes their dynamic significantly more compelling, and their sisterhood is one worth rooting for.

Posy and Sophie eventually reunite in the books, and readers are hopeful about a similar ending for their show counterparts.

3. The Penwood Girls

The Penwood family is an exciting addition to the series with their complicated family dynamics. Lady Araminta Gun raises her two daughters primarily on her own, shaping them into ambitious and ruthless people.

While Rosamund eagerly follows in her mother’s footsteps, Posy is not wired that way. She is soft, kind, and authentic. Posy cannot craft a callous persona the way her mother or sister can, significantly complicating their relationship.

It will be fascinating to watch how Araminta interacts with her daughters, while showing sincere favoritism toward Rosamund — her more promising child.

4. The Stirling Family

One of the best parts of Season 3 involves the introduction of the Stirling family. Francesca is eager to marry and is lucky enough to find someone as loving, caring, and thoughtful as John Stirling. However, Bridgerton Season 3 Episode 8, “Into the Light,” introduces Michaela Stirling, John’s cousin, and suddenly, Francesca’s world turns on its axis.

It is a bold decision to change the iconic Michael Stirling into Michaela Stirling. Still, it is an excellent choice that will expand both Michaela and Francesca’s characters and spice up their relationship, all while providing LGBTQIA+ representation.

Season 4 will explore Francesca and John’s early days of marriage, before Michaela arrives. When she does, it will be exciting to see how Francesca’s dynamic with John changes.

It will also be exciting to see John and Michaela’s profound friendship, considering that they are cousins by birth but best friends by choice.

5. Sophie Baek & Alfie

Alfie is an original character from the show, and someone readers have not met yet, which already makes his dynamic with Sophie intriguing. Netflix Tudum reveals that he is one of Sophie’s best friends and co-workers.

Given that Season 4 is Sophie’s story, her relationship with Alfie will likely play a critical role in shaping her character. It is possible that Alfie will be a supportive haven for Sophie, someone she absolutely needs when she must endure Araminta’s horrid abuse.

Only time will tell what their friendship will be like, but Sophie having genuine connections beyond her stepfamily and the Bridgerton family is a positive change for the show.

6. Benedict and Eloise Bridgerton

One of Bridgerton‘s most beloved sibling dynamics is between Benedict and Eloise — two fan-favorite characters that also share an exceptional bond.

Eloise will help Benedict find the mysterious Lady in Silver after the masquerade ball, a fitting role for Benedict’s favorite sister. Eloise has also never seen her brother in love before, so it will be refreshing to see how their sibling dynamic shifts now that Benedict has fallen for Sophie.

In the books, Benedict and Sophie’s romance even inspires Eloise to chase her own. Hopefully, this fact will remain true on the show.

Their relationship remains one of the best platonic dynamics on the show — a timeless favorite sibling relationship that is compelling and heartwarming.

7. Eloise and Penelope

Another iconic platonic relationship is the friendship between Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton. Their friendship has endured Penelope’s Lady Whistledown betrayal, Eloise’s befriending Cressida Cowper, and Colin and Penelope’s unexpected romance.

Now, Penelope and Eloise share the same last name, and the two have reconciled and seem to be closer than ever before.

Penelope will likely utilize Lady Whistledown to help Eloise and Benedict find the Lady in Silver, illustrating that despite what they have been through, they are still there for each other no matter what.

Penelope and Eloise’s friendship will continue to change, given that Penelope is now married to Colin. As Penelope has new responsibilities, they might grow apart simply because of shifting priorities. However, it will not change the deep friendship these two women have, and they will always be part of the heart and soul of Bridgerton.

8. Sophie and the Bridgertons

One of the most widely anticipated dynamics apart from Benedict and Sophie’s romance involves Sophie’s relationship with the Bridgerton family.

In the book An Offer from a Gentleman, Sophie becomes a lady’s maid for the Bridgerton women and grows close to Eloise, Daphne, Violet, Francesca, and Hyacinth.

Bridgerton has already teased a friendship between Eloise and Sophie in promotional material, something readers have widely anticipated. Violet and Sophie also form a special bond, and it would be lovely to include their dynamic on the show.

There is something indescribably special about how Sophie effortlessly connects with Benedict’s sisters and mother, as if she were born to be part of their family. Sophie is not just destined to be with Benedict, but she is destined to become a Bridgerton, too.

9. The Bridgerton Wives
BRIDGERTON Season 3 Episode 1 Will Tilston as Gregory Bridgerton, Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton, Florence Hunt as Hyacinth Bridgerton, Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton, Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, Hannah Dodd as Francesca Bridgerton, Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton

Benedict and Sophie will likely marry by the end of Season 4, signifying that Anthony, Benedict, and Colin — known collectively as the ABC brothers — will all have wives, and the family will have three additional sisters. It is the perfect opportunity for Kate, Sophie, and Penelope to become friends and grow close as sisters do.

There is quite a lot of groundwork for this potential relationship. Kate and Sophie share several similarities: both come from lower-class backgrounds, even though their circumstances are significantly different. Anthony and Benedict have always been super close, allowing their wives to bond more.

Also, Kate and Sophie provide important representation for South Asian and East Asian women, and they would understand one another better than any other Bridgerton woman could.

Penelope can also form essential friendships with Kate and Sophie. In fact, Bridgerton failed to adapt Kate and Penelope’s bonding moments from The Viscount Who Loved Me — a disappointment, but something that the show can rectify now that they are sisters-in-law.

In the books, Sophie is an admirer of Lady Whistledown’s column.

Furthermore, Lady Whistledown also notifies Benedict of Sophie’s whereabouts, effectively bringing them together. Sophie and Penelope will inevitably intertwine, and Bridgerton should capitalize on this opportunity to explore their connections.

Truthfully, Anthony, Benedict, and Colin have grown up together and are as close as brothers could be. It is only natural that their wives also form a meaningful and lasting sisterhood.

10. Sophie and Hazel

Bridgerton. (L to R) Gracie McGonigal as Hazel, Yerin Ha as Sophie Beckett, and Oli Higginson as Footman John in episode 404 of Bridgerton. Cr. Liam Daniel/Netflix © 2025

Similar to Alfie, there is not a lot of information about Hazel, but Shondaland has revealed that Hazel will befriend Sophie and become a new trusted confidante.

The circumstances of Sophie and Hazel’s friendship are unknown. Still, since her source material does not have significant relationships beyond the Bridgertons or the Penwoods, Bridgerton continues to provide Sophie with friends who understand her plight as a working-class woman.

Sophie’s friendships will ground her character and cement her as the leading lady of Season 4. Sophie and Hazel’s dynamic will likely differ from Sophie and Alfie’s, and it will be interesting to see how Sophie’s friendships contrast.
