Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 5 Review: On the Rocks

Reviews

While the found family theme has been going strong this season, Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 5, “On the Rocks,” shows us a Manfredi who might be dropping the ball. Even though he is working with the FBI to protect his family, doing so is pulling him away from the same people he wants to keep safe.

By being pulled in several directions at the same time, Manfredi has lost the touch that characterized him in the first two seasons. He isn’t paying attention to the small details he once told his team to be on the lookout for.

And while most of the team may not notice, Bevilaqua and Joanne know Manfredi is hiding something.

New York keeps calling Bevilaqua because they know Manfredi’s new business is worth it. Dwight knows so too, calling it the biggest opportunity of his life.

However, instead of being the businessman we know him to be, his mind is scattered everywhere. From Margaret to the Watchmaker, he can’t keep his thoughts in one place.

Even though he told his team they are family and they don’t leave each other alone, he is constantly leaving them alone to deal with trouble while putting himself in a lonesome situation too. And that is exactly what might cost him everything he is trying to protect.

While it’s understandable that he hasn’t told his crew about the FBI, telling them would have been the best way to protect them. With his current behavior, he leaves them exposed to more danger than before.

That danger now includes Bevilaqua. Is he taken by the FBI in the same manner as Manfredi was? Or are Dwight’s enemies coming for him, too?

Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 5, “On the Rocks,” expands the Watchmaker’s storyline, and it promises to be a good one. Dallas Roberts appears in one scene but completely steals it. He brings the best of his talent to the worst person in the Tulsa King universe.

While we’re mad he shows up on such an important day, we can’t help but love what he brings to the table.

Manfredi absolutely wants to catch him because he hates what the Watchmaker has done. However, after the stunt Dunmire pulls at the distillery opening, we can’t help but wonder if he will want to use the Watchmaker’s expertise in his favor.

This storyline is only just beginning, but it promises to disrupt everything we know about the show up to this point.

As Tyson continues with his existential crisis, Bigfoot stands out as one of the most interesting and intriguing characters on the show. His aura is very calm, and he brings a heartwarming feeling to the crew that makes absolutely no sense to Manfredi’s orbit.

However, as calm as he may seem, Bigfoot has hidden talents that we don’t even know about. Ice-sculpting is just another scratch on the surface of this character.

Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 5, “On the Rocks,” proves he is willing to do whatever it takes to protect this found family, including accidental murder. Hopefully, we will learn more about him.

Simultaneously, it’ll be just as interesting to keep an eye on Cole Dunmire and how his relationship with Spencer changes his loyalties and his character.
