What to Expect from Doc Season 2 Episode 1: Her Heart
Molly Parker is back as Dr. Amy Larsen for Season 2 of the Fox series Doc. On the season premiere, Doc Season 2 Episode 1, “Her Heart,” Amy has a patient whose case hits close to home.
The patient is a young woman in desperate need of a heart transplant. Her distraught father is willing to sacrifice everything to make sure she gets it and survives.
Having lost her own son to a heart condition, this case will test Amy emotionally. Despite still being a brilliant doctor, Amy often lets her emotions influence her decisions. Sometimes that works out for the better, but occasionally it’s been a problem.
Will Amy be able to balance her empathy and objectivity while treating this patient?
Although the season premiere’s preview material reveals little about the upcoming season, the promo does offer some clues as to what to expect this season.
One significant change is that Felicity Huffman will join the cast as a series regular. Huffman will play the new Chief of Internal Medicine. She is taking over from Dr. Miller (Scott Wolf).
As viewers will remember, Dr. Miller was caught trying to cover up a mistake that he made treating a patient, which cost them their lives and resulted in him being fired.
It doesn’t seem like Amy’s relationship with Huffman’s character will be any easier than it was with Dr. Miller, though.
The other big tease in the promo is that Amy will undergo a new treatment to help her restore her memories, memories that seem to be warning her about something.
The treatment, however, has risks and side effects that could endanger Amy’s career and maybe even her life.
