Leanne Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix
Comedian Leanne Morgan’s multi-camera comedy, Leanne, will return for a second season on Netflix.
Morgan stars as the titular character who starts over, with the support of her family, when he husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman.
The streamer renewed the series around five weeks after its 16-episode debut season premiered in June. Deadline reports that Leanne “spent two weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10 for English-language series, peaking at No. 6 with 2.8M views, and also charted for two weeks in the U.S. Top 10.”
“We’re coming back for a second season! I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!” Morgan said in a statement, per Netflix’s Tudum.
The Netflix Is a Joke Instagram account shared a video of Leanne Morgan announcing the renewal news and thanking all those who streamed the show.
Morgan, who executive produces the series, co-created Leanne with executive producers Susan McMartin and Chuck Lorre. “Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity,” Lorre said in a statement.
“Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with,” Lorre continued.
Leanne‘s executive producers also include Nick Bakay and Judi Marmel.
Alongside Morgan, the series stars Morgan, Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez, and Blake Gibbons.
The comedy series comes from Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Additionally, Leanne Morgan will debut her latest Netflix special, Unspeaking Things, on Tuesday, November 4. Not only is it the first of another two specials, it’s her second stand-up special with the streamer; the first being 2023’s I’m Every Woman.
