Smiling Friends Season 3 Premiere Date Announced by Adult Swim

It’s about to get nuts on Adult Swim once again, thanks to Smiling Friends Season 3, which is finally releasing this fall.

The upcoming series will premiere on Sunday, October 5, at 11:30 pm ET/PT on Adult Swim. Additionally, the new episodes will stream the next day on HBO Max.

For those who loved the previous seasons, Smiling Friends Season 3 will be offering those wacky jobs that Pim, Charlie, and the rest of the Friends will have to deal with. A new first look gives us a bit of that insight into what’s in store!

Smiling Friends Season 3 “finds Pim, Charlie, Flint, and the whole gang going absolutely bonkers once again, diving headfirst into their ultimate quest to spread joy upon the land,” the synopsis reads.

“We’ll see a bunch of unexpected stuff here such as Mr. Frog running full speed at the camera, the team finally collecting all the spirit gems they need, and a totally epic showdown spectacle with an Ancient Witch of some sort. AHHHHH!!!!”

Previously, Smiling Friends Season 2 gave fans a lot, not just in terms of the short stories, but also the creators involved. In fact, creators Zach Hadel (better known as the YouTuber “psychicpebbles“) and Michael Cusack involved many YouTube creators and animators as well.

The most prominent of these creators included animator Joel Haver and host Doug Walker, who also operate out of the platform. However, the involvement of other creators remains unclear at this point.

If there’s one thing for certain, it’s that Smiling Friends will be getting more episodes in the future. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Hadel and Cusack confirmed that there are also two upcoming holiday specials in the works.

Additionally, fans at San Diego Comic-Con also got to watch Season 3 Episode 1 for the first time. That episode featured a new character named Silly Samuel, who’s voiced by Connor O’Malley.

One of Adult Swim’s top-performing shows on HBO Max outside of Rick and Morty, Smiling Friends ranked among the platform’s top 10 series during its Season 2 premiere. Adult Swim has also renewed the series for a fourth and fifth season.

“We love shows that make you smile and go ‘haha’- and that’s what you’ll get with Smiling Friends and Haha, You Clowns. It’s right there in the titles,” Michael Ouweleen, president, Adult Swim, said.

“While totally different from each other, these two shows are united in that they’re hilarious, gently unnerving, and sometimes even profound,” Ouweleen continued.

Haha, You Clowns debuts Sunday, October 19, at 11:45/10:45c on Adult Swim.

Both series are produced by Williams Street, Adult Swim’s in-house production company.
