James Remar on Returning as Harry Morgan for Dexter: Resurrection
James Remar is reprising his role as Harry Morgan for Dexter: Resurrection, and the actor says that it felt like no time had passed when he returned to work with Michael C. Hall.
Though Deborah had replaced Harry as the person in Dexter’s mind during Dexter: New Blood, Harry takes that place again in Dexter: Resurrection.
In my recent interview with James Remar and Jack Alcott about the new series, Remar shared what it was like returning to this role and reconnecting with Michael C. Hall after such a long time. (You can watch the full interview below.)

“It’s like being called up from the Minor Leagues to go back to the Majors,” Remar said. “The original Dexter was a great show. It was an honor to be a part of it.”
“All of my scenes were with Michael [C. Hall], and to go back into the ring, so to speak, with my acting buddy is a very, very formidable and special kind of reunion,” he continued. “It was like no time had passed, but both of us had had a lot of time in between our last episodes and this new one, and it was still fresh and new and very, very loving. [It was] really, really, really wonderful to be reunited with my TV son.”

Harry’s return also allows for a new dynamic between Dexter and this internalized version of his father.
According to Michael C. Hall, Dexter is “re-exploring and redefining that relationship” in Dexter: Resurrection, and they’re “evolving into a place where they’re peers.”
