Tim Miller continues to push the bounds of animation under the banner of Love Death + Robots, one of Netflix’s most beloved anthology series.

The dystopian-esque animated series, consisting of episodes from multiple sets of creatives, changed the game, and it continues to do so this year.

Love Death + Robots Volume 4 seeks to continue the odd, weird, and sometimes wild storytelling that was set nearly three years ago. It contains some more unique concepts, ranging from eldritch abominations during World War II to another music video from Red Hot Chili Peppers.

However, some may wonder how it compares to other seasons. As such, here’s every season of Love Death + Robots ranked!

Love Death + Robots Season 2 might have the fewest episodes compared to every other season in the Netflix series. However, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t a few particular episodes that stood out.

Particularly, there’s one that comes to mind, that being Love Death + Robots Season 2 Episode 4, “Snow in the Desert.” This episode was probably one of the more intense episodes of Season 2, presenting its ideas of love in the midst of chaos (that being with bounty hunters).

One other episode that sparked the intrigue of fans was Love Death + Robots Season 2 Episode 8, “The Drowned Giant.” As one of the more realistic episodes that focused on the curiosity of human nature through the observation of a dead corpse, fans were intrigued by what was shown.

However, some had hoped that Season 2 could have more episodes due to the linear nature surrounding the repetitive themes of loss and humanity. Still, it proves that even with a low episode count, this series can thrive.

3. Volume 4 (2025)

This recent season of Love Death + Robots definitely had its ups and downs, which were felt more this time. One odd choice was the inclusion of a Red Hot Chili Peppers music video based on their real-life performance. It looked fun, but it begs the question: was it really needed?

Still, Love Death + Robots Season 4 contained some interesting stories. The most hilarious one came from Season 4 Episode 3 “Spider Rose,” which involved a cyborg trader incidentally finding herself taking care of a dubious space alien.

One of the stranger ones, Love Death + Robots Season 4 Episode 8 “How Zeke Got Religion,” really pulled viewers in with its action-packed, thriller-focused story on conjuring cosmic terrors on an airplane.

Of course, with MrBeast’s inclusion on Love Death + Robots Season 4 Episode 7, “The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur,” some fans of the show were worried about how it’d be executed. While the action of that episode was pretty good, its story still had much to improve upon.

2. Volume 3 (2022)

Love Death + Robots Season 3 seemed to pick up the ball where Season 2 slowed down, returning the focus of the series on the absurdity of it all. This was especially felt with the comically developed story of Love Death + Robots Season 2 Episode 4 “Night of the Mini Dead,” where its small world rocked on a bigger scale.

In addition, it also gave viewers the sequel to another episode with Season 3 Episode 1, “Three Robots: Exit Strategies”. Whereas the original episode focused on how humanity died, this sequel gave fans a closer look into the effects of classism and greed through survivalism.

The best-looking episode from Season 3 had to be Season 3 Episode 3, “Jibaro.” Despite its more horror-based narrative that feels straight out of a Universal Monsters film, its aesthetics and tension-building moments with its main character made it a memorable watch.

Of course, there’s no denying that Love Death + Robots Season 1 left an undeniable impact when it came to developing the anthology series. Despite all of the seasons that came after, every fan will at least go back to watch Season 1 to see what makes Love Death + Robots incredibly special.

Perhaps the best episode of Love Death + Robots Season 1 comes in the form of Season 1 Episode 2 “Three Robots.” Despite their entire world being decimated, watching the curiosity of these cute robots getting the better of them is just fun to watch! Plus, the cat they find rounds out their entire gang nicely.

Furthermore, the other episode that really stood out was Love Death + Robots Season 1 Episode 3, “The Witness.” Not only did this episode nail the neo-realistic aesthetic perfectly, but it constantly kept viewers on the move, quite literally, with its twisting and winding scenes.

All seasons of Love Death + Robots are now streaming on Netflix.
