Ellis gets answers about Daniel’s death on Wild Cards Season 2 Episode 13, “Sunrise, Sunset.” But at what cost?

Wild Cards Season 2 Episode 12, “Clouds in My Eyes,” throws a lot of things into motion for the investigation. Paramount among them is that Ellis is not supposed to be involved anymore. Commissioner Russo and Chief Li make that very clear during the opening minutes of the season’s penultimate episode.

Chief Li is even heard in the “Sunrise, Sunset” promo video, saying, “I told you to stay away from this case.” Though it’s not confirmed, one can guess that the comment is directed toward Ellis. After all, Ellis traveled to speak to Samson Ramos and learn more about the night that Daniel was killed.

The promo video teases the toll that this information, including discovering who the mole is inside the police department that is protecting Locke, takes on Ellis.

It shows him leaning on Max, which presumably occurs when Ellis fills Max in on everything. After all, there’s a moment when Ellis tells Max, “There’s something you don’t know about Daniel’s story.” It seems like Ellis may shoulder some of the blame for Daniel’s death because Max tells him, “It wasn’t your fault.”

Equally as emotional, the promo video for “Sunrise, Sunset” sees Ellis say, “I don’t matter.” To which, Max replies, “You matter to me.”

Elsewhere (or potentially relatedly), the Wild Cards Season 2 finale will take Max, George, and Ricky to Jonathan Ashford’s office to solve cryptic clues hidden there. Could these clues be connected to the video essays Max has watched all season? Only “Sunrise, Sunset” will reveal the truth when it airs on Wednesday, May 7.

Here’s everything you need to know about this episode, including the air date, cast, promo, and how to watch.
