All the Sinners Bleed TV Series Announced by Netflix
All the Sinners Bleed, a new mini-series based on the 2023 mystery thriller novel of the same name by S.A. Cosby, is now in production at Netflix.
Netflix’s 2025 Upfront presentation saw the announcement of the series. It was subsequently confirmed by Netflix itself and reported by Deadline.
Cosby’s original novel, All the Sinners Bleed, follows Titus Crown. Titus is a former FBI agent who returned to his small hometown of Charon, Virginia, and became the local sheriff.

Titus — Charon’s first-ever Black sheriff — is already dealing with tensions in the community. One is a still-standing Confederate monument. His job gets even harder after the discovery of a serial killer operating near Charon.
All the Sinners Bleed will be a nine-episode mini-series. Joe Robert Cole, screenwriter of American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson and co-writer of the Black Panther films, will serve as showrunner.
Cole will also be directing the series’ first episode and select others afterward. No casting for the series has been announced at this time.
The official synopsis of the series sounds like it is hewing close to the novel:
“Haunted by his past in the FBI and his devout mother’s untimely death, the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county is tasked with leading the hunt for a serial killer who has quietly been preying on Black communities in southern Virginia for years in the name of God.”

All the Sinners Bleed will be produced by Higher Ground Productions (Bodkin, Starting 5). This is the production company founded and run by former U.S. President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama.
President Obama previously named All the Sinners Bleed to his summer 2023 reading list. This was just one of the acclaimed and best-selling book’s accolades.
All the Sinners Bleed is Cosby’s fourth novel, after My Darkest Prayer, Blacktop Wasteland, and Razorblade Tears. All the Sinners Bleed will be the first of his books adapted as a TV series. Razorblade Tears was previously optioned as a film by Jerry Bruckheimer.
Cosby is a born-and-raised Virginia native. His novels are all set in the state and can be described as “Southern noir.” His fifth book, King of Ashes, is set to be released later this year.
