Has Olympia discovered Matty’s true identity? We’ll find out on Matlock Season 1 Episode 17, “I Was That, Too.” 

On Matlock Season 1 Episode 16, “The Johnson Case,” Matty learned that her timeline for the Wellbrexa cover-up was wrong. She also found proof that Olympia wasn’t the one who buried the documents. 

Matty’s relief after learning the news was palpable, and “The Johnson Case” seemed to be ending on a high note for Matty.

But that relief was short-lived. Before Matty could even make it home from the office, she was confronted by Olympia. Olympia claimed to know Matty was lying about who she was and demanded to know the truth. 

At which point the episode ends, before we get to hear Matty’s response. 

Now, on “I Was That, Too,” viewers will see the fallout from that confrontation as the episode sets up the two-part season finale for the following week. 

 At any other point in the season, it would have been a safe bet that the episode-ending cliffhanger was a fake-out. The series certainly does its fair share of bait and switches (maybe a few too many if I’m being honest).

But with this, for all intents and purposes, being the penultimate episode, it seems much more likely to be real. Plus, “The Johnson Case” reveal was done in the same flashback style as past reveals of Matty’s various subterfuges, giving this cliffhanger a little more weight.

And if that wasn’t enough, the promo is mostly Olympia grilling Matty for the truth, seeming to confirm that this isn’t something Matty quickly waves away.
