What to Expect from Wild Cards Season 2 Episode 8: Death by Design

Ellis and Max enter the world of fashion with their latest case on Wild Cards Season 2 Episode 8, “Death by Design.”

They must investigate Logan Hess’s murder. He was the head of a popular streetwear clothing brand. The episode’s promo video shows that Max is more than familiar with his brand — she has tons of his clothes.

The promo video also alludes to Hess’s fame through framed magazine covers on which he is featured. The bylines allude to Hess’s ideas for the future and dreaming big. Unfortunately, those plans are cut short when Hess is found dead.

It’s up to Wild Cards‘s dynamic duo to, as Ellis puts it, “find out why he [Hess] died in a diaper.” Max mentions that Hess has a partner who helps him make streetwear clothes, but they are not present on those magazine covers.

Perhaps they would be a promising first suspect for Ellis and Max to interrogate?

“Death by Design” puts Max undercover — as she is wont to do — at a photoshoot.

Presumably, that is where she will get a behind-the-series look at “the world of haute couture, fashion models, and overworked assistants,” as promised in the episode’s description. It could also be where Ellis and Max get the most clues in their investigation.

What Happened on the Previous Episode?

Previously on Wild Cards, Max was trapped in the police station with Chief Li after he discovered a bomb under his seat. While Ellis ran point outside with Yates and Simmons by his side, the episode revealed more about Li’s backstory.

Gradually, Li told Max about his undercover work among the Crimson Vipers and his complicated, unrequited romance with a woman named Sadie.
