The Pitt Season 1 Episode 12 Recap: 6:00pm

Recaps, The Pitt

Hour twelve has arrived on The Pitt Season 1 Episode 12, “6:00pm,” but as expected, it’s not the end of the shift.

A mass shooting event has inundated the emergency room, and the pitt is thrust into the most chaos they’ve seen all day.

Just as most of the staff are getting ready to leave for the day, an active shooter opens fire at PittFest, the music festival where Robby’s stepson Jake is currently located. Notably, Robby was originally going to go with Jake to the festival until Jake decided to bring his girlfriend.

With just minutes until the first ambulances carrying the victims arrive, Robby and the newly returned Dr. Abbot gather everyone and go through the protocols for a mass casualty event. There is a lot of fear in the air, but luckily, it seems to be an airtight plan.

Because they’re the closest emergency room, the Pitt is effectively closed to anyone who isn’t coming from PittFest. To the dismay of those who had been waiting for hours, the overcrowded waiting room is cleared.

There are, of course, plenty of protests from the patients, but the doctors have to brace themselves for what’s coming.

There is no exact number of victims, and they are not equipped for a large number, which means that they will run out of blood and other supplies. Still, as the ambulances arrive, they jump into triage.

As blood covers the floor, the squeaking of the gurney wheels, the ripping of bandages, and the slapping of the colored plastic bracelets are what is heard for most of the hour. The pitt runs like a well-oiled machine despite the odds being stacked against them.

The doctors who were coming in for the next shift arrive as well and quickly jump into action, but no one is clocking out anytime soon. As Robby immerses himself in the work, he keeps thinking about Jake, whom no one has been able to reach.

Even though the question of who the shooter is remains unanswered, all odds point to David, since his cellphone is traced to be in that area. There has been concern over his behavior throughout the entire day, so a reveal like that would not be surprising.

Langdon also returns despite Robby’s objections, but they can’t afford to be another doctor down right now. The remainder of the confrontation will just have to wait.

As the hour ends, more ambulances keep arriving. They are running out of supplies, and there are still no signs of Jake.

The Pitt Season 1 Episode 12, “6:00pm” is one of the most intense hours of the series so far. It pushes the limits of all the characters and does not fail to comment on how mass casualty events are becoming the norm in today’s society.
