Percy Jackson and the Olympians Renewed for Season 3, Ahead of Season 2 Premiere

News, Percy Jackson and the Olympians

That dam snack bar is finally opening up as Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 has been officially announced by Disney Branded Television and 20th Century Studios! The announcement comes before Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is released in December.

Just as Season 1 and Season 2 followed both The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters respectively, Season 3 will follow the events of The Titan’s Curse. This would indeed be the first time the franchise has brought author Rick Riordan’s third book to a live-action format.

The Titan‘s Curse sees Percy Jackson, Grover Underwood, Thalia Chase, and more in a race against time to save Artemis and Annabeth, who were taken hostage by the Kronos-controlled Luke Castellan and Atlas. Along the way, Percy and company will meet some peculiar characters who will have a lasting impact to come.

Work on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 was previously teased by author Rick Riordan on Bluesky. Recently, on Bluesky, Riordan posted about a potential casting for Nico di Angelo, the fan-favorite son of Hades who will be incredibly important moving forward.

“We had our first PURELY HYPOTHETICAL absolutely-nothing-confirmed ‘what if’ conversation about what the casting might look like for Nico di Angelo,” Riordan posted. “Although it was just a thought exercise, I’m not going to lie, I still got chills.”

Previously, Nico’s presence in Percy Jackson and the Olympians was teased on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 Episode 6 “We Take a Zebra to Vegas”. Nico could be found as an easter egg for acute viewers, shouting for his sister Bianca di Angelo in the Lotus Hotel.

However, fans can expect other characters besides Nico and Bianca di Angelo to debut. Season 3 will also mark the first time fans will see Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, Camp Half-Blood’s soon-to-be oracle, and more.

Furthermore, the writers’ room for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 also began near the end of Season 2’s production, as posted by Riordan on Bluesky. Given how the meeting took place weeks ago before Season 3 got a greenlight, Season 3’s production could follow similarly to Season 2’s.

In addition, Season 3’s announcement also came with the news that Season 2 is slated to release in December 2025.  With this information, it seems likely that each season will have a December release.

“We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time,” said Rick Riordan.

“It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer. Production recently wrapped in Vancouver, and fans can look forward to its second season premiere on Disney+ this December.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will premiere in December 2025 on Disney+.
