Étoile, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino’s latest Prime Video series, premieres next month.

The dance-world dramedy, set in New York and Paris, will debut all eight episodes of its first season on Thursday, April 24.

The series “follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions: swapping their most talented stars,” per its logline.

Étoile is also steeped in the history of Sherman-Palladino and Palladino’s previous TV shows.

In fact, this Prime Video series is the second ballet-centric show from Sherman-Palladino, who co-created ABC Family’s Bunheads. The series starred Sutton Foster and Gilmore Girls‘s Kelly Bishop, but it only aired for a season.

Étoile‘s premiere will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Gilmore Girls‘s premiere. The Prime Video series also features Yanic Truesdale, who starred as Michel Gerard on Gilmore Girls, in a recurring role.

Meanwhile, the photos show a sneak peek of Luke Kirby’s role, who reunites with the creators after the five-season and highly-decorated run of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Kirby won the Primetime Emmy Award for his guest role as Lenny Bruce in 2019.

Kirby will reunite with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel costar Gideon Glick on Étoile. The dramedy also stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou de Laâge, David Alvarez, Ivan du Pontavice, Taïs Vinolo, David Haig, and Simon Callow.

Prime Video gave the show a two-season, straight-to-series order in April 2023. “Well, guess that plan for early retirement will have to wait,” Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“Instead, we’ve decided to embark on an international journey with an unbelievable group of players and the most talented ballet dancers in the world. We will sleep when we’re dead,” the couple added.

Étoile comes from Amazon MGM Studios and is executive produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino, and Dhana Rivera Gilbert. Scott Ellis will serve as co-executive producer.
