Chicago P.D. Season 12 Episode 15 Review: Greater Good
Chapman is back on Chicago P.D. Season 12 Episode 15, “Greater Good.” Her feelings for Voight aren’t discussed but are obviously still there.
This time, the two partner up to get information on Reid. Even though for a split second she asks him if he likes Reid and insinuates the two might be alike, in the end, Voight proves to her (and everyone second-guessing him) that he is nothing like Reid, nor does he want to be on his team.
The Voight vs. Reid battle is only just beginning, and things will get ugly.

Reid is taking advantage of his dirt on Voight and the Intelligence Unit to get the sergeant to do whatever he wants. However, as much as he claims to know Voight, he has no idea how badly he’s barking up the wrong tree.
When Voight confronts him about everyone Reid owns and how he used someone’s death to his advantage, the Deputy Chief claims the sergeant is just like him. He mentions Voight’s guilt is just fogging who he truly is.
That shows that despite having dirt on him, Reid knows nothing about who Hank Voight is. He might understand what having dirt on people is like, but Voight has always done things for the people and the city he loves. He has never acted because of his thirst for power.
For Voight, things come from the heart. A very twisted, borderline illegal, and at times psychotic heart, but never to manipulate and control others to be at the top. On the contrary, Reid owns people and blackmails them because he loves the control and the power it gives him.
They’re not the same, and that’s why Voight can turn the tables and look into Reid. After all, he knows a little too well what it is like to have enemies, and he can use that to his advantage when investigating everything about Reid’s past.

For a moment, Chapman wonders if Voight sees himself in Reid and likes him. That is quickly forgotten when he opens up to her about what’s going on.
He tells her the truth about the blackmail, asks for her help finding dirt on Reid, and invites her into his very private investigation to bring Reid down. That is his way of trusting her and proving that he isn’t like the Deputy Chief, nor is he looking to be.
Reid mentions the reports he has seen about Voight, which everyone who came before him and Chapman always held against Voight. There was always one supervisor or the other trying to use that against Hank to bring him down and remove him from his unit.
However, Chapman has always been the exception. While it becomes clear that she is on his side because she has feelings for him, her behavior was that way before she confessed how she felt. From the beginning, she has tried to find a way to work with Voight exactly as he is.
Now, she has the chance to help him and bring down the person who should actually be removed from his position.

Chicago P.D. Season 12 Episode 15, “Greater Good,” sets the mood for Chapman and Voight to work closer together. Does this mean her feelings will end up being reciprocated?
It takes a lot for Voight to open up to someone, but this episode makes it clear that he trusts Chapman enough to do so. Whether that becomes romantic down the line is yet to be seen.
Stray Thoughts
- Cook is a great undercover cop, and there should be more of that.
- Kim continues to be the one to talk sense into every other member of the unit and the only one to do things by the law no matter what.
