Surface Season 2 Premiere Date Announced by Apple TV+

Today, Apple TV+ revealed a new look at Surface Season 2, which stars and is executive produced by Loki‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

The eight-episode second season premieres globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, February 21, 2025. New episodes will stream every Friday through April 11, 2025. 

Surface Season 2 will also see the return of cast members Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Millie Brady. Guest stars include Phil Dunster, Gavin Drea, Rupert Graves, Tara Fitzgerald, and Nina Sosanya, with Joely Richardson and Freida Pinto.

The psychological thriller series follows Sophie, who lost her memories and the reason why she died, as she tries to piece together her motivation. Meanwhile, the pieces of her past slowly coming back to her.

Surface Season 2’s description reads as follows:

The second chapter of “Surface” follows Sophie (Mbatha-Raw) to London to unravel the secrets of her past. Having suffered an injury that robbed her of her memories, Sophie follows the few clues she has, using her vast stolen resources to embed herself in elite British society, and discovering a possible connection to a beautiful heiress. But everything changes when a journalist contacts her out of the blue, and Sophie realizes they were working together to expose a shocking scandal about the dangerous people she’s now become close to.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Mbatha-Raw celebrated the release of Surface Season 2. “I am thrilled to continue this journey and dive deeper into the tension and mystery of Surface with…this brilliant team,” Mbatha-Raw said.

“I love playing Sophie and I can’t wait for fans and new audiences to join us as she enters the dangerous new world of her past in Season 2,” she said.

The first season was an entirely thrilling mystery for Sophie to uncover as she dug deeper into her past after discovering her true identity. Surface was hailed as “captivating,” “twisty and juicy,” and a “sexy, elevated thriller” following its global debut on Apple TV+.

Surface was created by Veronica West, who serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.

West also provided her own statement and teased what Surface Season 2 could hold for Sophie’s journey.

“This is really a brand new chapter set in a whole new world,” West said. “I can’t wait for people to see how the show evolves as we explore an emboldened, fearless Sophie in Season 2.”

Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce on behalf of Hello Sunshine, and Mbatha-Raw stars and executive produces. Surface Season 2 directors include Ed Lilly, Jon East, Lynsey Miller, and Alrick Riley.
