In the Know Canceled After One Season by Peacock

News

Before 2024 could end, Peacock has one last cancellation to reveal.

Deadline exclusively reported that Peacock canceled the stop-motion adult animation series In the Know after just one season.

The series was one of the earliest new shows to premiere in 2024, having launched all six episodes of its first season on January 25 on Peacock.

The show was co-created by Mike Judge, Zach Woods, and Brandon Gardner. Judge is a renowned television producer known for helping create Beavis and Butt-Head, King of the Hill, and Silicon Valley. Woods is an actor and comedian best known for performing on The Office and Silicon Valley.

In the Know was known for being the first original adult animated program released specifically for Peacock. The series features stop-motion puppets rather than traditional 2D or 3D animation.

The show had plenty of the pedigree working behind the cameras, including The Office‘s Greg Daniels serving as executive producer. However, very little information was revealed about the show throughout the year before Peacock officially announced its cancellation on New Year’s Eve.

Deadline claims the show was going to be a stronger push by Peacock for more adult programming. The series was going to follow the heels of other popular adult animated shows found on Netflix and Paramount+.

It’s unknown how the In the Know cancelation will affect the streaming service’s push for adult animation going forward.

In our exclusive interview, co-creator Brandon Gardner discusses how the idea to produce stop-motion came about. Mike Judge has always wanted to work with stop-motion, and after some discussion, the crew realized the puppets work best for telling the world of In the Know.

The series followed the wacky adventures Caspian and his co-workers get themselves into at an NPR radio station. Zach Woods stars on  In the Know as a third-rate radio host named Lauren Caspian. Other cast members include Caitlin Reilly, Charlie Bushnell, J. Smith Cameron, and Carl Tart.

In The Know Season 1 is streaming on Peacock.
