10 League of Legends Characters Who Deserve an Arcane-Like Series

Lists

Arcane Season 2 is still leaving fans reeling with its epic and shocking conclusion to Netflix’s most exciting animated series. Though the story that followed Vi and Jinx may have come to an end, many are hopeful for Riot Games to continue delivering.

In fact, the studio continues to do so as confirmed by Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill on X. Merrill’s reason is justified given how expansive the League of Legends universe actually is.

The world of League of Legends spans further beyond Piltover and Zaun, which serve as the main settings for Arcane Season 2. As such, there are many characters from different corners from this game that hold potential to be explored. Fans have gotten a taste of what these characters could do in their own series through artistic, lore-centric cinematic trailers.

However, there are a few handful of fan-favorite characters whose backgrounds could definitely warrant their own series like Arcane!

10. Aatrox

Aatrox is a fallen champion of Shurima, a once-glorious civilization, who would become a threat to Runeterra, where Piltover and Zaun are located. Though he was bestowed magical alterations, he found himself caught in a civil war with his fallen brothers that led to his imprisonment.

He developed rivalries with others, especially with Xolaani, a powerful warrior, and take over many souls as hosts. It would be interesting to see the complex dynamic Aatrox and Xolaani share in a series about these hosts and the war waged between them.

Plus, it’d also be intriguing to envision these celestial events in a way similarly to Dominion. Given the focus on godhood and the warring groups led by these two characters, it could perfectly fit that narrative.

9. Viego

Viego is basically the “Mr. Freeze” of League of Legends if he was an undead warlord. He was a ruler of a thriving empire until he met his wife, a peasant named Isolde. Dismissing his duties, his enemies accidentally poisoned Isolde instead of him, drawing his kingdom deeper into despair.

However, he embarked on a long journey to resurrect his wife, which resulted in his death. Now, as the “Ruined King”, Viego would go on an endless pursuit to find his wife by collecting soul fragments. This time in history would be known to fans as Ruination.

Surprisingly, there is a novel by author Anthony Reynolds that focuses on the events of Ruination. It follows Viego’s niece, Kalista, who faces the hard choice of deciding what’s right for herself or Viego. It could be fun to see these events come to life in an adapted animated series or create an original story out of that!

8. Pantheon

Pantheon is known as the Aspect of War, the Ares of League of Legends who resides in the warrior Atreus as his host.

Though he found Atreus unworthy of his power due to his failures, he took a chance on him after Atreus survive a long trial. Together, the two would go on to be heroes of sorts until Pantheon’s demise at Aatrox’s hands.

On some level, Pantheon’s story could play out similarly to Kratos’s origins from God of War, where Kratos was once bound to Ares. Exploring Atreus and Pantheon’s connection can provide a unique perspective of family ideas and can connect to other characters in the future.

7. Sylas

Sylas is a warrior who was born with magical powers and because of that, was sent away by his family. He was imprisoned by the Mageseekers, who sought to use his powers to snuff out any other mages. Years later, he would lead a revolution against Demacia, his home city, for its ruthless persecution.

While fans have gotten a taste of what Sylas could do in League of Legends‘s 2020 music video “Warriors”, there’s still more he could do. It would be exciting to see Sylas embark on this conquest in a show that plays out a la 3 Body Problem.

6. Lissandra

Lissandra is a peculiar godly character with deeply dark ice powers. Born at an untold time, Lissandra hides so many secrets that those who dared to uncover them would result in their demise. Yet, her powers of sorcery also serve as a curse as she serves as an indirect connection to the Watchers, beings of pure malice.

Given her connection to another character here, Lissandra’s past and yearning to sacrifice everything for power could be captivating. Though she made bad choices that would inevitably lead to more destruction, that path to redemption provides much potential.

As with Jinx in Arcane, redemption could be a recurring theme for such shows to explore in the future.

5. Jhin

Jhin is a very meticulous criminal who simply believes murder can be a work of art. Though his past remains shrouded in mystery, his acts of violence elevate him to a level unlike any other character on the roster. Given his skills in artistry, charm, and murder, he could absolutely find himself in a series that plays out like Dexter.

However, Jhin’s story has already been further explored in League of Legends through the Zed comic book series. While he served as that series’ main antagonist, it would be interesting to see where Jhin is presently.

A show following his activities that ultimately leads to a much bigger conspiracy could provide more depth to an already fascinating character.

4. Kayn

Kayn also appeared in the Zed comic book series alongside Jhin, whose background is heavily inspired by the Soul Eater manga series and Venom

He seeks to bring his people into a new dawn with Rhaast, a demonic entity who is influencing him. Conflicted, Kayn’s journey involves him fighting control for his body and his sanity.

There have been two potential futures in his journey: one that sees him fulfilling his own potential or one where Rhaast wins. With the antiheroic nature of Kayn, it could be shocking to watch him develop a storyline similar to a storyline like “Agent Venom.”

Kayn’s connections to darker powers could further influence a catastrophic event that could tie events from Arcane and other shows as well.

3. Riven

Riven is a cunning warrior who actually has connections to another character from Arcane, that being Singed. Born to a farmer, she grew up to be one of Noxus’ dangerous leaders before giving it all up after realizing her actions. Exiled by everyone, Riven would serve voluntarily on her village’s farms as punishment.

A series that sees Riven fully redeem herself for her past has incredible potential. Not only would it bridge those thematic connections to Arcane, but it could also fully open up new parts of this cinematic universe. This series can pull from a show like Silo to drive that story and make Riven a character many can embrace.

2. Kai’Sa

Kai’Sa is unlike any other mortal champion as she was reborn out of the Void, managing to survive its perils. However, many mortals fear her due to her malevolent connection to the dark powers. However, she still protects those in need, making friends with those like Taliyah and Ezreal, to aid her mission.

Just like Sylas, Kai’Sa was also seen in the 2020 “Warriors” music video, saving Ezreal from Voidborn creatures of evil. Together, these two characters could share a story that combines narrative elements from shows like Warrior Nun and Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.

It’d be fun to watch a treasure-hunting action-thriller that has bigger implications for other series in the future.

1. Ashe

Out of every League of Legends character on the roster, Ashe truly deserves her own show. She’s the only survivor of her Avarosan tribe with a deep connection to the ice. However, her mother inspired her to become a protector for other tribes. As such, many believed she was destined to reunite the people of Freljord.

Ashe’s story has the potential to flesh out, as seen with other protagonists in Blue Eye Samurai and Dragon Age: Absolution. These Netflix shows have approached similar ideas with fidelity and respect for their main characters, which made them popular.

Watching Ashe not only embark on this mission to unite her people, but to understand her mother’s perspective, already provides a solid basis. It could be expanded to include or reference other characters or events from Arcane, but Ashe’s narrative can stand out on its own.

All episodes of Arcane Season 2 are now streaming on Netflix.
