Slow Horses Renewed for Season 6 Ahead of Season 5 Return on Apple TV+

The Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning spy drama Slow Horses has been renewed for a sixth season on Apple TV+.

The streaming service announced the news nearly a week after the fourth season concluded with Slow Horses Season 4 Episode 6, “Hello Goodbye,” premiered.

Slow Horses Season 6 will have six episodes adapted from Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s Slough House series.

Gary Oldman is set to return to the series as Jackson Lamb, “the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the spies.” Slow Horses‘s ensemble also includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Samuel West, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Joanna Scanlan, and Jonathan Pryce.

According to Apple TV+’s logline, the sixth season will see the “Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge. ”

“Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses, and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure,” Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe, Apple TV+, said.

The Slow Horses renewal also comes after that for a fifth season in January, which is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ in 2025.

The show’s fifth season finds everyone “suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, “London Rules” should always apply.”

The espionage drama made its two-episode debut with Slow Horses Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, “Failure’s Contagious / Work Drinks,” in April 2022. The series “follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House.”

See-Saw Films produces the series for Apple TV+. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and Gary Oldman serve as executive producers.

Slow Horses Season 6 is adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe, with Adam Randall returning to direct.

Slow Horses is streaming on Apple TV+.
